The College of Pharmaceutical Science was established in 1970, as the Pharmaceutical Department of Hebei New Medical University. The college began to enroll students in March, 1973. After more than 30 years development, The College of Pharmaceutical Science boast departments with competent teachers covering major disciplines of pharmaceutical science and has become the education and research base with capacity of producing multi-level high qualified pharmaceutical professionals. The College of Pharmaceutical Science is the provincial level key department, and is designated as the research base for modernization of Chinese medicine and as the platforms for research on new drug development in four areas: synthesis and screening, effective components of Chinese medicine, pharmacy and technology, pharmacological and toxicological technology. The college has one department with capability of training doctoral degree graduate students and all departments with capability of training master degree graduate students. The college has two teaching courses that are designated as the provincial level distinguished courses. The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is the university level key department and the Organic Chemistry is the university level distinguished teaching course. The college has total of 525 full-time four-year course students, 670 full-time three-years courses students and adult students, and more than 150 doctoral and master degree graduate students.
The College of Pharmaceutical Science has rooms for teaching and research with total area of more than 1300 square meters. The college has many advanced equipments including: GC/MS, HPLC, patch clamp, confocal microscope, gas chromatography and thermogravimetric analyzer, with total value of more than 11,000,000 yuan. These advanced instruments laid a solid foundation for the college in teaching, research and new drug development.
The College of Pharmaceutical Science has 5 teaching and research sections, 1 teaching experimental centers, 1 new drug research and development center. It undertakes 16 required courses and 34 selected courses. Currently, there are 79 teaching and administrative staffs at this college. Of the 58 teachers, 22 are professors and 12 are associate professors; 12 are doctors and 22 are masters; 6 are doctoral tutors, 21 are master’s tutors, 2 teachers enjoy the special government allowance, 4 are members of editorial board of the national core journals, etc.
In recent four years, The College of Pharmaceutical Science has published over 250 theses, in which, 30 were collected by SCI. Besides, it has published 72 national core journals and over 30 monographs and teaching materials, in which, 7 have applied for national patent and 3 have obtained the national patent.
