The predecessor of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine which was founded in July, 1958. It was one of the earliest-founded universities of traditional Chinese medicine. After 50 years’ struggle and development, this college has gradually become a university for teaching, scientific research and medical treatment. And it has provided over 12,000 advanced professional talents of traditional Chinese medicine for the nation. They have been the backbone at the aspects of medical treatment, health, health care and management. And they have made great contribution to the promotion and development of the national medical science.
Currently, College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has 110 teaching and administrative staffs, in which, 31 are professors (including chief physicians), 29 associate professors (including associate chief physicians) and 2 lecturers. Besides, 1 teacher enjoys the national government allowance, 3 are doctoral tutors and 36 are master’s tutors. In recent 3 years, this teaching team has been completely improved.
College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has 3 departments, 1 experimental teaching center and 11 teaching and research sections. It offers 3 undergraduate programs, i.e., traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and Chinese material medica. Besides, it offers one doctoral program. And the master’s programs cover all the disciplines of the college. There are now over 1,500 students at this college.
In recent years, College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has won 17 provincial level progress prizes in science and technology, 2 provincial level teaching achievement awards and over 40 provincial department level progress prizes in science and technology. Currently, it is undertaking over 90 scientific research projects, in which 5 are state level projects. It was appointed as the experimental teaching demonstration center of Universities in Hebei Province by Hebei Education Department.
