Tour Itinerary:
Your personal English-speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 9am. Then take a taxi or bus to the northern entrance of Nanluoguxiang hutong where your 3.5 km/2.2 mile-long walking tour starts from. Nanluoguxiang is one of the most famous Hutong alleys in Beijing. Hutongs refer to the old style alleyways where large number of one-story courtyard houses are located in Beijing. Many of these areas are now protected in order to preserve their unique architecture. Nanluoguxiang has proved to be a mix of history, fashion, shops and bars. Walking along Nanluoguxiang from north to south, then walking about 1,000 meters to Lotus Market- the entrance of famous Houhai Bar Street. Walking along the Houhai Lake for 1.3kms to the Silver Ingot Bridge which connects Qianhai and Houhai. The bridge looks like a silver ingot, hence the name "silver ingot bridge". Exploring Yandaixiejie Hutong or Yan Dai Xie Jie. Yandai is the name of a Chinese pipe that was traditionally sold on this street. You will find small quantities of strange stuff like art, Mao kitsch, traditional Chinese clothing, jewellery, silk items, tea and teapots and a small selection of funkier designer clothes.
Walking cross over the street to the Drum Tower, then Bell Tower, these two towers were used to mark the time in ancient dynasties. Later on, pay a visit to a local family at Hutong, and enjoy making dumpling with host/hostess, lunch in this family too.
After lunch, take taxi or bus to get back to your hotel at 2:00 pm, lovely tour ends!
