The College of Liberal Arts, with its predecessor the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, is one of the earliest and strongest among colleges of the same lever in Jiangxi Province. The college has set up 2 bachelor’s degree programs (Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese as a Foreign Language) and 7 master’s degree programs (Literature and Art, Classical Chinese Literature, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, Chinese Philology, Comparative Literature and World Literature, Chinese Classical Documents, Master of Education).
 
The College of Liberal Arts has strong teacher resources. Over the past 63 years, a large group of well-known experts, scholars and professors from home and abroad have taught in the college. Currently there are totally 62 faculty, among whom 2 are receiving the State Council special allowance, 1 is receiving the provincial government special allowance, and 31 are professors or associate professors, with 12 are doctors.
 
The College of Liberal Arts attaches importance to knowledge, education and discipline construction, aiming to increase the teaching lever and gain achievements in research and discipline construction. In 1984, the Chinese discipline was approved to be the only key liberal discipline by Jiangxi People’s Government. In 1996, Literature and Art was approved to be the provincial key discipline, and Classical Chinese Literature the provincial key constructed discipline. In 1997, the college of Liberal Arts was honored the State Language Affairs Advanced Group. Since the year 1984, the teachers of the college have published more than 60 compositions, 1,100 academic dissertations and works. They have undertaken 17 national research projects and 46 research projects at provincial and ministerial level and gained 56 teaching and research awards.

Application Time
For international students, the academic year begins in September. The duration for application is from March 1st to June 30th.
 
Entry requirements
Bachelor’s degree: Be above 18 years old, senior high school graduate, HSK3 certificate or above, in good health.
 
Master’s degree: Have Bachelor’s degree or above, HSK4 certificate or above, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good health.
 
Doctoral degree: Have Master’s degree or above, HSK4 certificate or above, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good health.
