School of Food and Biological Engineering is one of the key schools in Jiangsu University. This school consistently persists in guiding thoughts of “discipline development as its first task, the construction of faculties as its core, the firm grabbing of teaching and research as key points and the overall development of school work”. Meanwhile, we constantly strengthen discipline and specialty construction by sticking to the program open to the social development and economic construction, basing on Jiangsu Province and serving the country, and fully taking advantage of discipline and research to facilitate bachelor’s speciality construction and talent cultivation.
 
The school includes three departments (Food Science & Engineering, Food Safety and Nutrition and Biotechnology), three research centers (Non-destructive Quality Analysis of Agricultural Products, Functional Food, and Nutrition & Safety of Food), and three institutes (Bioengineering, High Pressure Processing, and Creativity). The research center for Food & Biological Engineering occupies a 8,000 m2 area and has been equipped with 20 million Yuan facilities and instruments.
 
The school has a long history. The bachelor degree program in Agricultural Product Processing Engineering was established in 1983, followed by the Master degree program in 1986 and the PhD degree program in 1993. With more than 20 years of hard work, the school has been currently authorized to offer a first hierarchy doctoral degree program, including five second hierarchy doctoral programs, and six master programs. The five doctoral degree programs include Food Science, Cereals, Oil & Plant Protein Engineering, Agricultural Product Processing & Storing Engineering, Aquatic Product Processing & Storing Engineering, and Nutrition & Safety of Food. The six master degree programs include the above five doctoral degree.

Undergraduate students: 4years
Postgraduate students: 2-3 years
Doctoral students: 3-5 years
 
Application time
For international students, the deadline for admission is August 15 every year. The final decisions of admission are made upon application materials, examination record and health examination record. The Admission Letter will be sent out by the International Education Exchange College before August 15.
 
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Be in good health condition, have senior high school diploma and good academic record, have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses, have good moral character, applicants who apply for Bachelor programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.
                                           
For Master’s degree: Be in good health condition, have college graduation diploma and good academic record, have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses, have good moral character, applicants who apply for bachelor programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.
 
For Doctoral degree:Be in good health condition, have Master’s degree and good academic record, have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses, have good moral character, applicants who apply for bachelor programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.
