The School of Humanities& Social Sciences at Jiangsu University consists of Department of Chinese Language & Literature, Department of History, Department of Politics, Department of Philosophy, and four research institutes: Institute of Philosophy of Science & Technology, Institute of Ethics, Institute of Modern Economics and Institute of Modern Chinese History.
At present, it covers 81 staff members, including 13 full professors and 30 associate professors. The school offers three Master’s degree programs and five Bachelor’s degree programs. The Master’s degree programs include Principles of Marxism, Ideological and Political Education, Marxist Philosophy. The Bachelor’s degree programs are: Chinese Language & Literature Education, Ideological and Political Education, History Education, Advance Bilingual Secretary, and Chinese as a Foreign Language. The School has an enrollment of 681 postgraduate and undergraduate students. Committed to developing high quality innovative professionals, the School places a high premium on disciplinary construction, undergraduate education and academic research.
The School puts great emphasize on scientific research, aiming to improve the ability of the staff’s teaching and research. In the past 3 years, the staff has undertaken over 50 projects on national, provincial and ministerial level, and published 18 monographs and teaching materials. Currently, it has made great achievements in the fields of Ideological and Political Education, Technical Philosophy, Marxism Theory, Chinese Ancient Philosophy, Marxism Philosophy and Modern History of China. And it puts an active role in academic exchange domestically.
In addition, the School attaches great importance to international academic exchange. It has co-sponsored three Intensive Chinese Courses with the Sino-Japan Friendship Association and sent teachers abroad for academic visits.

Application time
For international students, the deadline for admission is August 15 every year. The final decisions of admission are made upon application materials, examination record and health examination record. The Admission Letter will be sent out by the International Education Exchange College before August 15.

For Bachelor’s degree: Be in good health condition, have senior high school diploma and good academic record, have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses, have good moral character, applicants who apply for Bachelor programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.
For Master’s degree: Be in good health condition, have college graduation diploma and good academic record, have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses, have good moral character, applicants who apply for bachelor programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.
For Doctoral degree:Be in good health condition, have Master’s degree and good academic record, have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses, have good moral character, applicants who apply for bachelor programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.
