Introduction
Nationally regarded as a centre of excellence in teaching and research, School of Philosophy the largest and most successful university department of its kind in China. It is particularly noted for its expertise in philosophy and literature.
Within the school there are approximately 63 research scientists, lecturing and support staff, including foreign teachers from different countries and regions, and the presence of around 885 students.
Study for a degree in philosophy at School of Philosophy enables students to gain a thorough acquaintance with both Chinese and international philosophical tradition from the ancient to the present day. It is an active discipline which encourages its students to open up their own beliefs and value systems to rigorous examination by way of engaging with some of the greatest minds in the history of Chinese thought.

Philosophy graduates are amongst the most employable of graduates in the arts and humanities. You could follow a career in a variety of administrative and managerial posts in industry or public service; or you could work in education, commerce, journalism or broadcasting. Alternatively, you could choose to work in areas like computing, finance, law or librarianship. Or you could go on to further study in philosophy or a number of other academic disciplines.
