The College of Mechanical Science & Engineering of Jilin University is a merger of the former Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Engineering Machinery and Department of Engineering Mechanics. The Department of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 1955. After undertaking great combinations and interactions with so many departments of the universities, it was finally found in 2000. At present, the College enrolls 2,000 undergraduates, over 400 master's program students and 90 doctoral program students.
The first-level discipline of Mechanical Engineering, regarded as a Doctoral program, is the key discipline of “211 Project”, “985 Project”. The College covers 2 mobile post-doctoral stations in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics, 5 doctoral stations in Machinery Manufacturing & Automation, Mechanical & Electronic Engineering, Machine Design & Theory, Solid Mechanics, and Industrial Engineering, 7 master stations in Machinery Manufacturing & Automation, Mechanical & Electronic Engineering, Machine Design & Theory, Solid Mechanics, Bio-chemistry Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, and Industrial Engineering.
The College covers a strong strength of teaching and research, cultivates talented students in Mechanical Science & Engineering who have contributed a lot to the society, and invites many domestic and international scholars and experts to teach in the College. The College owns 43 professors including 32 doctoral supervisors, and 63 associate professors. Most of them have studied overseas and played the leading role in disciplines research with the prestigious faculty. It attaches great importance in the development and layout of Machinery & Information Technology, Micro-Electric Technology, and Bio-medicine Technology. Moreover, the College has wide academic exchange and corporation with a lot of international universities.

Application time
For Bachelor’s degree, the duration for application is from March 1st --July 30th.
For Master’s degree and Doctoral degree, the application time is from March 1 to May 30.
The academic year begins from August 25 to September 1 stated in the admission notice issued by the university.
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Applicants must be at least 18 years old; at least with a high school diploma. The applicants have adequate Chinese language proficiency (HSK Band 3 for science, and engineering students). The students whose Chinese language is not proficient enough may enroll first in a one-year Intensive Chinese Language Study Program.
For Master’s degree: the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree, recommended by two associate professors or above, academic records, health certificate and HSK6 certificate or above.
For Doctoral degree:the applicants should have Master’s degree, academic records, recommended by two associate professors or above, health certificate and HSK6 certificate or above..
