The School of Arts was set up in December, 1999. This school devotes itself to develop the literal education. It bases itself upon Yunnan and serves the entire country. The school of art centers on the education of undergraduate course and it strives to build up the school into an applied and inter-disciplinary talents training department of Yunnan province. It also aims to turn the departments like humanistic quality education into a leading education department in Yunnan Province.
Currently, the School of Art has foreign language department, arts department, cultural transmission department, cultural quality education center of Kunming University of Science and Technology and comprehensive laboratory. There are 107 teaching and administrative staffs in this school, in which, 96 are teachers. There are 975 undergraduate students and 15 graduate students at this school. The comprehensive laboratory is equipped with 3 listening rooms, 180 seats. And the reference room has collected 11,000 books.
The foreign language department offers 4-year bachelor’s degree of English. The English major began to recruit students from 1979. Till now, the foreign language department has cultivated over 1,400 students. And this department has 40 teachers. The artistic design major includes environmental art design, decorative art design and landscape design. Besides, it has one master’s degree of Chinese ethnic art. The arts department has 23 teachers, in which, 1 is professor, 2 are associate professors, 11 are lecturers and 9 are teaching assistants. The cultural transmission department has the major of editing and publishing science and advertising. And this department has 16 teachers, in which, 2 are associate professors or above, one have doctor’s degree and 13 are masters.
The primary mission of cultural quality education center, Kunming University of Science and Technology is to carry out the cultural and humanistic quality education for the students of the whole university. This center has 14 full-time teachers, 7 associate professors and tens of part-time teachers.

Application Time
For international students, the academic year begins in September. The duration for application is from March 1st to June 30th.
Entry Requirements
Undergraduates: The applicant should be a high school graduates with acceptable Chinese level; HSK Band 3 or above.
Master candidates: The applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree and with acceptable Chinese level; HSK Band 3 or above.
Doctor candidates: The applicant should have a Master’s degree and with acceptable Chinese level; HSK Band 4 or above.
