Detailed Regulations on LZJTU Presidential Scholarships for Outstanding International Degree Students

I. Name of scholarship:

Lanzhou Jiaotong University Presidential Scholarships for Outstanding International Degree Students


II. Objective:

The objective is to encourage self-supporting international degree students to work hard with great enthusiasm and to observe various laws and regulations.


III. Qualifications for application:

1. Self-supporting international degree students studying for bachelor’s degree, master’s and doctor’s degrees can apply.

2. Undergraduate students in the 1st academic year can only apply for 3 rd prize based on HSK Band 5 or above.

3. Undergraduate students in 2nd and above academic year can apply based on their academic performance reflected by the examination results of the 2nd or 3rd academic year;

4. Graduate students in the 1st academic year can only apply for 3 rd prize based on HSK Band 6 or above.

5. Graduate students in 2nd and above academic year can apply based on their academic performance reflected by the examination results of the 2nd or 3rd academic year;

6. Students who apply for scholarships must abide by the laws and regulations of PRC and obey LZJTU rules. They must work hard with great enthusiasm, be of good conduct. Their examination results during the previous academic year must be up to the following standards:

1)Students who have got 75 in the examinations of EVERY course and average 80 of the previous academic year (make-up examination results are not valid) are qualified to apply for the 1st prize.

2)Students who have got 70 in the examinations of EVERY course and average 75 of the previous academic year (make-up examination results are not valid) are qualified to apply for the 2nd prize.

3)Students who have got 65 in the examinations of EVERY course and average 70 of the previous academic year (make-up examination results are not valid) are qualified to apply for the 3 rd prize.


IV. Quota for scholarships:

1. For doctor students, one 1st prize, two 2nd prizes and three 3rd prizes each academic year.

2. For master students, two 1st prizes, three 2nd prizes and four 3rd prizes each academic year.

3. For undergraduate students, three 1st prize, four 2nd prizes and six 3rd prizes each academic year.


V. Amount of money for each prize:

1. Doctor students who are awarded the 1st prize will be exempt from 20,000 RMB tuition fee; awarded the 2nd prize will be exempt from 14,000 RMB tuition fee; awarded the 3rd prize will be exempt from 10,000 RMB tuition fee.

2. Master students who are awarded the 1st prize will be exempt from 14,000 RMB tuition fee; awarded the 2nd prize will be exempt from 10,000 RMB tuition fee; awarded the 3rd prize will be exempt from 8,000 RMB tuition fee.

3. Undergraduate students who are awarded the 1st prize will be exempt from 10,000 RMB tuition fee; awarded the 2nd prize will be exempt from 8,000 RMB tuition fee; awarded the 3rd prize will be exempt from 6,000 RMB tuition fee.


VI. Scholarship evaluation process:

1. Applicants fill in the Application Form and hand in the form to their Schools (Departments or Institutes).

2. Their Schools (Departments or Institutes) are supposed to supply written evaluations on the forms. The written evaluations must carry the signature of the person in charge and must be sealed by the Schools (Departments or Institutes) before turning in to School of International Education.

3. An evaluation panel made up of personnel from School of International  Education , Graduate School, Department of Teaching Affairs and related Schools (Departments or Institutes) is to rank all the applicants and to decide the list of winners according to applicants’ application and to the written evaluations of their Schools (Departments or Institutes).

4. Time of evaluation: Applicants are expected to turn in the Application Form to their Schools (Departments or Institutes) before July 1. The Schools (Departments or Institutes) are supposed to turn in the Forms with written evaluations to School of International Education before July 10. In the late of July, the panel is supposed to discuss the issue and declare the evaluation results. A grant will be vacant if no applicant is qualified for that year.


VII. Giving out awards:

Before October 31st, leaders of the university will give out the certificates and the scholarship (in the form of being exempt from certain tuition fee) to the winners.


VIII. Supplementary Provisions:

1. This Regulation will effect from the date of approval.

2. School of International Education is responsible for the implementation and interpretation of This Regulation.
