The College of History of Nankai University was established in October, 2000 covering 3 departments, 3 centers and 3 institutes. Its precursor was the Department of History with over 80 years history. Currently, it has developed itself into a comprehensive school with total disciplines and courses. The staff is capable of teaching and scientific research and has made great achievements in the past years.
At present, the College covers the following 8 second-level disciplines: Ancient Chinese History, Modern Chinese History, World History, History of Particular Subjects, Theory of History and History of Historical Science, Studies of Historical Literature, Archeology and Museology, and Historical Geography. All of them are authorized doctoral programs and master programs which have basically covered every aspect in the field of history. The College has strong and solid teaching power and owns a large number of high-level teachers. Every year, it has an enrollment of more than 60 doctoral students, 60 postgraduate students, and 70 undergraduate students. And it is able to enroll post-doctoral students as well.
The College is home to a group of work talents in teaching and research. They have a capability of doing scientific research, a high education level, a balanced combination and age structure of its members. A considerable number of famous historians used to work here and had made great contribution to the development of the Discipline of History. It now covers 86 staff members including 40 professors, 34 associate professors, 12 lecturers, 39 doctoral supervisors. Among them there are 63 persons are Doctoral degrees. The staff is unceasing to work hard and create new splendid success.

Application time
For Bachelor’s degree, the duration for application is from March15 1 to April 15 every year. The academic year begins on September 1.
For Master’s and Doctoral degree, the time for application is March 1 to March 31. Examination: the last ten-day period of May
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Applicants must be over the age of 18 and in good health, notarized copy of senior high school diploma or highest diploma, Official HSK6 certificate or above.
For Master’s degree: Applicants must be above the age of 18 and in good health, at least have a Bachelor Degree with good academic performance, the transcript of Bachelor’s certificate and diploma, a study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words), two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors, HSK6 certificate or above.
For Doctoral degree:Applicants must be over 18 years-old and in good health, at least have a Masters degree with good academic performance, the transcript of Master’s certificate and diploma, a study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words), two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors, HSK6 certificate or above.
