The College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Nankai University was founded in August 1998. Its predecessor, the Department of Environmental Science founded in 1983, was the first department of its kind among comprehensive universities in China.
Started in 2000 the College began offering Ph.D. degree programs in environmental science and environmental engineering, as well as a center for post-doctoral studies. The College has made great efforts in recruiting talented people and has brought together a group of young capable teachers with advanced degrees who have proven their dedication to teaching and scientific research. With 14 doctoral supervisors, 16 professors and over 40 other teachers in the College, the structure, quality and diversity of its teaching staff is well established and highly regarded. Till now, more than 1500 undergraduates, masters and doctoral students have graduated from the College. These graduates have played an active and important role in the field of environmental protection in China.
The College places strong emphasis on scientific research and academic development. The College has conducted several projects, which were assigned from the State government to solve key environmental and technological problems, and major research projects from the State Environmental Science Foundation have been successfully implemented.
The College is one of the leading academic researches and technology application institution in China. The College has won numerous National, Provincial and Municipal Awards for Progress in Science and Technology. The College has promoted a large number of international academic exchanges and established academic relationships with over twenty universities in foreign countries. The College has also hosted many successful international conferences in both Tianjin and Hong Kong.

Application time
For Bachelor’s degree, the duration for application is from March15 1 to April 15 every year. The academic year begins on September 1.
For Master’s and Doctoral degree, the time for application is March 1 to March 31. Examination: the last ten-day period of May
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Applicants must be over the age of 18 and in good health, notarized copy of senior high school diploma or highest diploma, Official HSK6 certificate or above.
For Master’s degree: Applicants must be above the age of 18 and in good health, at least have a Bachelor Degree with good academic performance, the transcript of Bachelor’s certificate and diploma, a study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words), two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors, HSK6 certificate or above.
For Doctoral degree:Applicants must be over 18 years-old and in good health, at least have a Masters degree with good academic performance, the transcript of Master’s certificate and diploma, a study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words), two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors, HSK6 certificate or above.
