The School of Journalism and Communication was made up of the original Journalism major of social science department and advertising major of English language and literature department. The original journalism major of social science department was set up in 1996. It was approved by ministry of education in 1998 and began to recruit students from then on. In September, 2001, it went back to social science department and set up the teaching and research room of journalism and began to recruit students.
The original advertising major of English language and literature was formally approved by Chongqing Education department to establish in 2003. In 2005, the Journalism major of social science department and advertising major of English language and literature department respectively separated from the original teaching units and merged into the new School of Journalism and Communication.
Currently, the School of Journalism and Communication has 465 undergraduate students. And it has formed a powerful teaching force with high teaching level and reasonable ages. There are 36 full-time teachers in this school, including 5 professors, 8 associate professors, 6 doctors, 2 university-level star teachers, etc. Some of the teachers have gone abroad for further study and they have bilingual teaching ability. Some of the teachers have the work experience of media and they have gained abundant teaching and research achievements.

Application Time
Applications for undergraduate and postgraduate programs should be made from March to July each year, and the academic year starts in early September.
Entry Requirements
Undergraduates: have reached the age of 17, in good health, with a senior high school or above diploma, have reached Level 5 in the HSK test.
Master candidates: have obtained a bachelor’s degree, with recommendations by two professors or associate professors, have reached Level 7 in the HSK test, have passed the entrance examination, and are in good health.
