The Department of Chinese Language & Literature belongs to the School of Humanities & Social Science of Shanghai Jiaotong University. It is regarded as the quality-teaching bases of state college students. Currently, it covers a group of 15 faculties, including 2 professors, 9 associate professors and 4 lecturers. By the recent 5 years, the faculties have published more than one hundred papers, 20 monographs or translation works. The faculties are famous for sufficient teaching experience, professional scientific researches. It has made great progress since its establishment and wins a high reputation of its kind in domestic universities.
What’s more, it has undertaken 2 projects of China Philosophy Social Science Funds, one key published project of National “fifteen”, 2 projects of Shanghai Social Science, and one project of USA Social Science Funds. It covers both programs for Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree. The programs are Literature & Art, Ancient Chinese Literature and First-class Chinese Language & Literature for Master’s degree and Chinese Language & Literature (directions for international exchange) for Bachelor’s degree.
The Department attaches great importance on establishing wide relationships and corporations with domestic and international contemporaries in academic exchange. It is ready to send a large number of undergraduate students, postgraduate students, professors, lecturers abroad to make academic exchanges. What’s more, the Department has established a long-term and stabile cooperation with so many universities and famous academic institutes throughout the world, including US, England, France, Canada, Australia, HK and Taiwan, etc.

For Degree applicants, the deadline for application is June 10. The academic year begins in September every year.
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: the applicants should have senior high school diploma, academic records, health certificate and HSK5 certificate, over 18 years old.
For Master’s degree: the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree, recommended by two associate professors or above, academic records, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
For Doctoral degree:the applicants should have Master’s degree, academic records, recommended by two associate professors or above, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
