Scholarship Contents and details

There are two types: First Prize and Second Prize scholarship, with the latter covering recipients’ tuition only.
The following expenses are covered by First Prize scholarship:
(1) Registration fee and tuition(including experiment and internship expense);
(2)Comprehensive Medical Insurance ;
(3)Monthly living allowance (1100 RMB for undergraduate students and general scholars; 1400RMB for postgraduate students; 1700 RMB for doctoral students );
This scholarship is provided to doctoral students, Master’s degree students and undergraduate students (including general scholars)


Scholarship Validity and Annual Assessment

Generally, scholarship recipients could get the correspondingly scholarship in accordance with their study duration: full-time undergraduate student for four years, postgraduate 2-3 years, doctoral students 3 years and general scholars 1 year.
To maximize the inspirational function of scholarship and follow relative regulations of the Annual Assessment of Southwest University President Scholarship, an Annual assessment of the recipient’s comprehensive performance during the last academic year will be held every May. Disqualified recipients’ scholarship will be canceled.


Qualification

(1) Non-Chinese citizen in good health;
(2) Education background and age limit:
—Applicants for undergraduate studies must have graduated from Senior high school, under 30 years of age;
—Applicants for postgraduate studies must have bachelor’s degree, under 35 years of age;
— Applicants for doctoral studies must have master’s degree, under 40 years of age .
—general scholar applicants for the study of their own major or for the study of Chinese language should be at least at their second year of undergraduate study or have bachelor’s degree or similar degrees, under 45 years of age.
(3) Not sponsored by any other kind of scholarship.


Application Materials

(1) Application Form for President Scholarship of Southwest University (in duplicate, including one photocopy). Fill it out on computer, print on A4 paper and sign. Send to Southwest University with other materials;


(2) Photocopy of attained highest diploma, graduation certificate or diploma certificate. University students or employed applicants should provide proof of studying or employment. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English (in duplicate, including one photocopy);


(3) Transcripts of the lower level diploma. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English (in duplicate, including one photocopy); 


(4) Study or research plan: in Chinese or English (no less than 800 words);


(5) Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors. Recommendation letters should have the signatures of professors or associate professors (in duplicate, including one photocopy);


(6) Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of the applicants’ own works. Applicants for fine arts must submit a CD of the applicants’ own works (including two sketches, two color paintings and two other works);


(7) Transcripts of HSK test or other certificates of Chinese Proficiency (if applicable);


(8) Published academic papers or other academic achievements (original or photocopy);


(9) Two recent photos (white background, in passport size). Please write down the applicant’s name and major on the back of the photo;


(10) Photocopy of the applicant’s passport;


(11) Two photocopies of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The original should be kept by the applicant). The form is issued by inspection and quarantine bureau in china, being applicable for long-term resident (longer than 6 months). The form should be filled in English. Medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration as they plan to take the medical examination. 


Note:
1. Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of the result of application.
2. Scholarship Application fee (400 RMB per person) will be charged after the publication of the List of Scholarship recipients and will not be refunded.


Admission and Notification

Southwest University will organize experts to review all the application materials. The Foreign Admission Office of International College will notify the scholarship recipient before June 30th every year. Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW202) will be sent to the recipients directly.
