Economics School was made up of the former finance and banking department, cameralistics department, international economy and trade department and economics department of Tianjin Institute of Finance and Economics. Economics School was established according to the applied economics, which is a first-level discipline. This school has 8 second-level disciplines, 7 research institutes and 19 main research fields. And it has formed the development state which centers on the development of the finance, cameralistics and international trade and drives the coordinated development of the other disciplines.
Economics School has 8 master’s programs of second-level discipline, in which, the finance, cameralistics, international trade and industrial economics were authorized to confer master’s degrees in 1980. The finance and banking was authorized to confer doctoral degree in 2003. In 2003, the center for post-doctoral studies of applied economics was also built. 5 second-level disciplines of Economics School were listed in the key disciplines of Tianjin. During the 10th 5-year plan, this school has invested 10 million yuan for the construction of the disciplines.
In recent five years, Economics School has published 1,260 theses and 50 academic monographs, in which, 34 have won the provincial and ministerial level awards of scientific achievements, 2 have won the humane and social science awards among the colleges and universities of the nation.
Currently, Economics School has undertaken 119 scientific research items, in which, 9 are funded by the nation and 28 are provincial and ministerial level. In this year, it gained 2 more state-level projects and 10 municipality-level projects.
Economics School has 144 teachers, in which, 36 have doctoral degrees, 45 are professors and 10 are doctoral tutors. The teaching team of the school is reasonably structured. And this team has powerful strength of teaching and scientific research.
Economics School recruits undergraduate students of nine specialties and 5 major fields. Currently, there are 3,000 students at school.
