The department of Opera Literature was established in 1980. At present there are 356 undergraduates in the department.
The department has two majors, which are film opera literature and international culture communication. The former aims on cultivating talents on opera, film theory and production, while the later focuses on fostering experts who possesses high accomplishment in art and culture, master the foreign language for communication, and are combined with communication skills and creative abilities.
In the past 20 years, the department has cultivated plenty of talents on creation and management on opera and literature. The graduates have gained fruitful achievements in their dynamic activities in this field. As the only educational unit which focuses on the cultivation of opera creation, the department of Opera Literature means a lot to the inheritance and creation of Chinese Opera Literature. In its long-term teaching experience, the department has formed a teaching theory of “Base upon the tradition, face up with the modern”. In the process of teaching, the department pays attention to the learning and succeeding of the tradition, as well as to the needs of modern society, therefore to establish a reasonable knowledge structure for the students.
The department of opera literature has considerable amount of professors and vice professors, who have abundant teaching experiences and academic abilities. Besides, the department has invited famous experts and scholars to give lessons and speeches, and established close relationships with other art universities in home and abroad.

Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must have an HSK test score of grade 6 or above, having graduated from high school or higher academic records and having passed the entry examinations.
For Master’s Degree: Applicants must have an HSK test score of grade 8 or above, having graduated from universities or higher academic records and having passed the entry examinations.
