The College of Electrical and Power Engineering is a technical college focusing on electricity and energy. The college has set up the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Thermal Engineering, the Fundamental Education Department of Electrical Engineering, and the Teaching Experiment Center. Currently the College of Electrical and Power Engineering has 2 bachelor programs, namely Electrical Engineering and Its Automation and Thermal Energy and Power Engineering. Electric Machines and Electric Apparatus is a key discipline in Shanxi Province and has got the authority to offer doctoral degree. The college also has a master program of first-class disciplines in Electrical Engineering, and 5 second-class disciplines covering Electric Machines and Electric Apparatus, Electric Power System & Automation, High Voltage and Insulation Technology, Power Electronics and Power Drives and Theory and New Technology of Electrical Engineering. The college also has master degrees in Thermal Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Power Engineering.
The College of Electrical and Power Engineering has long a history and strong teacher resources. Currently there are 106 faculty, including 65 teachers and 24 non-academic staff. Among those teachers there are 35 professors and associate professors, 6 doctor tutors. Teachers who have got a master’s degree or doctoral degree account for 80% of all teachers. The college has achievements in Mine Intelligent Electrical Technology, Special Electrical Machinery Technology, AC Driving Technology, Wind Power Key Technology, etc, among which the scientific research in Mineral Intelligent Electrical Technology has reached the international leading level. Over the last five years, the college has won a second-class National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, 3 first-class Shangxi Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, 3 second-class Shangxi Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards and 1 first-class Teaching Award.
Currently, the College of Electrical and Power Engineering has 1,185 undergraduates, 13 doctoral candidates, 200 master degree candidates of science and 113 master degree candidates of engineering. Excellent education lever, advanced experiment instrument and stable teaching bases provide students with perfect environment for study, practice and creation.

Application Time
For international students, the time for registration is the first two weeks of each semester (before March 10th and September 10th each year). Short-term students will start according to each individual schedule. Two months before the semester starts, the applicants should submit the materials to the International College.
Entry Requirements
Bachelor’s degree: Be above 15 years old, senior high school graduate, HSK certificate, in good health and AIDS certificate.
Master’s degree: Have Bachelor’s degree or above, under the age of 65, HSK certificate, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good health and AIDS certificate.
Doctoral degree: Have Master’s degree or above, under the age of 65, HSK certificate, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good health and AIDS certificate.
