The School of Architecture at Tianjin University was established in June, 1996, with merging the former department of Architecture and institute of Wang Xuezhong Art. Its precursor was the Department of Architectural Engineering with the combination of the departments of North Jiaotong University and Jingu University. In 1986, it establishes the Major of City Planning & Design.
In the past ten years, it has cultivated a considerable number of over 2000 undergraduate students and over 100 graduate students. Most of them have been distributed in various provinces, autonomous regions and the national institutes of Architecture, Architectural science research institutes, and institutions of higher learning. And many people have become technical backbone or leading cadres in their work occupations and organizations.
At present, the School owns 5 majors for Master’s degree including Architectural Design & Theory, Urban Planning & Design, Architectural History & Theory, and Architecture Technology & Esthetics, and 2 majors for Doctoral degree including Architectural Design & Theory, Architectural Technology Science. It covers 24 master supervisors, 7 doctoral supervisors, and one academician of the Ministry of China Science and Technology. The faculty has a strong capacity of teaching and research, a high education level and a balanced combination and structure of its members. It aims to cultivate more professional and more qualified students in the field of Architecture.
The School is the first-level discipline with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and other 4 second-level disciplines are all authorized to hold Doctoral degree, including Architectural Design & Theory, Urban Planning & Design, Architectural History & Theory, and Architectural Technology Science. The School attaches great importance to academic exchange with many universities, institutes and enterprises domestically and internationally.

Entry Requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: the applicants should have senior high school diploma or equivalent, above18 years old, score list, in good health and HSK3 certificate or above.
For Master’s degree: the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, recommended by two associate professors or above, under the age of 35, score list, in good health and HSK3 certificate or above.
For Doctoral degree: the applicants should have Master’s degree or equivalent, recommended by two associate professors or above, under the age of 45, score list for Master’s study, in good health and HSK3 certificate or above.
