The Civil & Environment Engineering School grew out of the Mining Department of Beijing University of Iron and Steel Technology. In January 2001, the new academy was renamed as the Civil and Environmental Engineering School according to the present situation and developing needs of the majors’ structure. There are 97 teachers, of which there are 21 professors (researchers), 31 vice professors (vice researchers), 15 doctoral supervisors. Moreover, the school invited many academicians who are all the famous national or international experts as part time professors or part time doctoral supervisors.
The school has 10 regular master courses (Engineering Mechanics, Vehicle Engineering, Safety Technology and Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Mineral Studies, Search for Mineral Deposits and Exploration, Rock & Soil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Biochemical Engineering). In addition, there are five doctoral courses including Engineering Mechanics, Vehicle Engineering, Safety Technology and Engineering, Mining Engineering and Mineral Processing Engineering.
The school has achieved over 1000 scientific research items since 1978, including over 60 national key problems to be tackled in science and technology items. The total costs for scientific research were more than 100 million Yuan. The school also got one national science and technology progress top grade award, four second awards, four third awards, one national invention third award and over 130 provincial science and technology progress awards. There have been over 60 monographs and 2600 scientific papers published since 1990. Presently, it has one national key disciplinary area on “Mining Engineering”, four departments on “Civil Engineering”, “Environmental Engineering”, “Resources Engineering” and “Equipment Engineering”, two institutes on “Mining Engineering” and “Vehicle Engineering”.
The school has cooperation relationship with over 20 universities and institutions of U.S.A, Japan, Australia, Britain, Sweden, Canada, Russia, etc. More than 100 people have joined the international academic conferences or given lectures aboard, and 20 people have been the executive president in plenary meetings or special meeting since 1980.

Requirements for Admission
For the Bachelor students, they should prepare the application form, high school diploma and score transcript, health certificate and HSK 3 certificate.
The students applying for Master’s and Doctoral Degree must specially prepare 2 recommendation letters from associate professors or above and the HSK 6 certificate.
