The Faculty of Mechanical and Precision Instrument Engineering is a multidisciplinary institute with 50-year involvement in various fields like machinery, optics, electron, precision instrument, information science and technology and industry's art design. Among them, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing and Automation is honored as the Famous-Brand Specialty of Shaanxi Province. This faculty boasts 3 laboratories: Mechanical Equipment Key Laboratory of Shaanxi Province, Quality Supervising and Inspecting Center for Domestic Machine Tools, and Northwest Technical Supervising and Educational Center. And it owns over 100 large-sized advanced equipment including six-DOF serial-parallel new concept machining machine tools and dual-frequency laser interferometers. The Faculty of Mechanical and Precision Instrument Engineering also has an Innovative Education Training Center including a Mechanical Design Base, a Pottery Art and Model Workroom, etc.
The Faculty of Mechanical and Precision Instrument Engineering consists of 4 departments and 3 laboratory centers. This faculty offers 7 doctoral programs (Machine Manufacture and Automation, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design and Theory, Vehicle Engineering, Industrial Design, Industrial Engineering, Technique and Equipment of Printing and Packaging Engineering), 6 postgraduate programs (Machine Manufacture and Automation, Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical Design and Theory, Precision Instrument and Mechanism, Electromechanical Engineering, Technology & Instrumentation of Testing and Measuring) and 5 undergraduate programs--- Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Technology and Instrumentation of Measuring & Control, Industrial Engineering, Optical Information Science and Technology, industrial design.
Among over 90 teachers of this faculty, there are 13 professors, and 32 associate professors. The total student population of this faculty is 2,820, among which there are 100 doctoral students, 320 master students and 2,407 undergraduates.

Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Applicants must be under the age of 35 years, and in good physical condition, holding a non-China passport and having graduated from high school, academic records, have an HSK test score of grade 3 or above.
For Master’s degree: Applicants must be under 40 of age and in good physical condition, holding a non-China passport and a Bachelor’s degree, have 2 letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, have an HSK test score of level 5 or above.
For Doctoral degree:Applicants must be in good physical condition and under 45 of age in principle, holding a non-China passport and a Master’s degree, have an HSK test score of level 5 or above, have 2 letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, academic records.
