The Department of Economics of East China Normal University (ECNU) was established in 1984 and it belongs to the School of Business. The form department head is the famous professor called Chen Rubiao. Over the past 20 years, the Department has accumulated adequately in academic and teaching which has become the leading of Economics in domestic universities. Moreover, it covers a lot of mid-aged and youth professors and experts.
The Department was the first established majors when the College Entrance Examination was recovered in 1977. Relying on the strong power of Economics, it was regarded as doctoral stations and master stations of World Economics in 1981. The Major of World Economics was the first majors to enroll doctoral students which were considered as the key discipline of Shanghai. It began to enroll postgraduate students of Politics & Economics in 1984. The Major of International Finance was established for Master’s degree in 1993 and the Major of Enterprise Management was established for Master’s degree in 1997. The Major of International Trade was established in 1998. The Department makes great achievement since its establishment and rapidly wins a high reputation in domestic and international fields of its kind.
With the development of domestic economics, the former Department of Economics has reached 3 departments, including Department of Economics, Department of Finance and Department of Industrial & Commercial Management. Currently, it covers 13 faculties, among whom there are 4 professors and 4 associate professors. It is a department full of vitality and vigor, creativity and strong power which has cultivated students of high qualities, adequate creativity and solid academic foundation. It has transferred students including over 1300 undergraduate students, 600 graduate students to various fields. Such as enterprises, finance institutes, managing departments of Economics, the research office of Policy and so on.

Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: the applicants should have senior high school diploma, academic records, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
For Master’s degree: the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree, recommended by two associate professors or above, academic records, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
For Doctoral degree:the applicants should have Master’s degree, academic records, recommended by two associate professors or above, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
