The predecessor of College of Civil Engineering is the Hunan Industrial College which was founded in 1903. In the past 100 years, it experienced great changes in name. In 1926, the college was named into Hunan University and College of Civil Engineering has its formal name.
There are 198 faculty members in this college now including 1 academician, 1 Changjiang Scholar, 48 professors, 64 associate professors, 32 lecturers and 40 serving as supervisors of doctoral candidates. The college has over 2700 students including over 700 postgraduates.
The college has 8 departments including Department of Architectural Engineering, Department of Bridge Engineering, Department of Water Engineering & Science, Department of Road and traffic engineering and so on. It offers 4 Bachelor’s programs including Civil Engineering, Water Supply & Sewage Engineering, Architectural Environment Design & Plant Engineering and Engineering Management; 8 Master’s programs which are Civil Engineering, Communication & Transportation Engineering etc and 8 Doctoral programs.
It has 7 research institutes and 6 scientific service organizations. Also, the teachers make great accomplishments at home and abroad. They have gained 9 provincial prizes, published 22 textbooks and 703 papers. The graduates from the college are popular in the industry of civil engineering and. They have always worked hard, made great achievements and contributed to the development and prosperity of Hunan’s economic development.
The college has also established extensive links of academic exchange and cooperation with universities and research institutes in Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and USA as well as in Chinese Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Requirements for Admission
The students applying for Bachelor’s degree should prepare photocopy of passport, high school diploma & marks transcript, letters of recommendation, HSK 4 certificate.
For the students applying for Master’s degree, they should prepare undergraduate diploma & marks transcript, letters of recommendation from two professors, HSK 4 certificate and other relevant documents.
For the doctoral candidates, they should particularly prepare one or two academic papers.
