College of Energy and Power Engineering, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology was founded in 1960. After over 40 years construction and development, it is now one of the key personnel training and scientific research units specializing in energy, power, hypothermal medicine, etc.
College of Energy and Power Engineering has the power engineering and engineering thermal physics mobile station for the post-doctors. It also has 7 doctoral programs, such as power engineering and engineering thermal physics, thermal engineering, motive power machinery and engineering, engineering thermal physics, refrigeration and cryogenic engineering, fluid machinery and engineering, chemical process equipment. Besides, it has 3 master’s programs, i.e., food science and engineering, power engineering, biological engineering. The power engineering and engineering thermal physics is the key discipline of Shanghai. Refrigeration and cryogenic engineering is the key discipline of Shanghai Education Department. College of Engineering and Power Engineering insists on the core position of the undergraduate education. It has 4 undergraduate programs--- thermal energy and power engineering, process equipment and control engineering, environmental engineering, food science and engineering.
In recent 3 years, College of Energy and Power Engineering has undertaken numerous scientific research projects, including “973” project, “863” project, state natural sciences fund projects and general projects. The total fund of the projects amounts to 33 million yuan. Besides, in recent three years, the teachers of the college have published nearly 870 theses in domestic and foreign academic journals, of which, over 100 are cited by SCI, EI and ISTP. And 33 have gained patents.
College of Energy and Power Engineering has 9 research institutes, 1 experimental center of power engineering and test base of energy island key technology. This college actively brings in talents. In recent years, it has brought in over 20 doctors and masters. Currently, there are 116 teaching and administrative staffs at this college. Of the 96 full-time teachers, 30 are holders of senior professional titles (including 18 doctoral tutors), 34 are associate professors, 24 are holders of medium professional titles, and 18 are holders of junior professional titles. Meanwhile, 36 of the teachers have doctoral degrees, 40 of the teachers have master’s degrees.
