The Capital Institute of Physical Education (former Beijing Normal Institute of Physical Education) was established in 1956, which is one of the universities of higher physical education approved by the Ministry of Education of China to enroll the overseas students with the governmental scholarship or at their own expense. The institute is located at the zone of universities in Haidian District of Beijing where is superior for the literate environment and convenient in the traffic.
The institute now has the specialties covering all the disciplines of the physical culture and an organizational system of six departments, including the Specialty of Physical Education, Specialty of Sports Training, Specialty of Kinesiology, Specialty of Social Sports and Specialty of Traditional Sports of Nationalities, as well as the Specialty of public administration ( Sports.) : The institute also possesses the Division of Basic Theory, the Division of Adult Education and the Division of Postgraduates. The institute also has the Scientific Research Institute of Sports, the Key Laboratory of Beijing and the Athletic School. The faculty and researchers of the institute are more than 200, and more than 49% of them are professors and associate professors.
The institute has set up throughout the year the training courses for the foreigners to learn Chinese. The teachers of Chinese all have the qualification certificate granted by the Ministry of Education of China for teaching Chinese to foreigners, and have the experience of teaching the overseas students for many years, which ensures the overseas students to pass the HSK examination smoothly.
The institute has set up throughout the year the martial art training courses to teach the Chinese martial arts. The teachers of martial arts all have the very high professional qualification, and among them, there are quite a few notables in the field of martial arts.
The institute has a beautiful environment and is equipped with all kinds of facilities. The students can participate after class in the sports such as swimming, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, taekwondo and bodybuilding.
The International Exchange Center of the institute is responsible for the reception of the foreign students, students from the regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and the short-term groups to study and make cultural exchange in our institute. Currently, we have established the relationship for the school exchange with USA, Finland, Japan, Korea, Russia, Australia, and Swiss, etc.
