Philosophy Department’s former name is East China Normal University Department of Political Philosophy in the Department of Education, whose academic founder is the well-known contemporary Chinese philosopher, historians of philosophy Professor Feng Qi.
After several generations of efforts, Department of Philosophy has become a academic center with many subjects, teachers, and academic characteristics of the tradition. At present, the Philosophy Department and Philosophy Department of the Institute for the implementation of the organic unity, with 7 Department: Department of Chinese philosophy, Marxist philosophy, Teaching and Research Section, Department of Foreign Philosophy, logic Study University, Department of Religious Studies, Ethics and Philosophy of Science Teaching and Research Department.
Nowadays the department has a level post doctorate subject, two disciplines and 3 doctor points: Chinese philosophy, a foreign philosophy, foreign Marxist studies; an interdisciplinary Master of Philosophy has a point, with eight master's point of: Marxist philosophy, Chinese philosophy, a foreign philosophy, logic, ethics, science and technology, philosophy, History of Natural Science (History of Physics) and the study of religion; an undergraduate professional: professional philosophy.
At present, there are totally 692 students, of which 31 are PhD students, 165 are graduate students, 111 are undergraduates, 385 junior college students at evening university. Philosophy Department faculty members account a total of 44 people, among them 14 people are professors, 10 are associate professors.

Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: the applicants should have senior high school diploma, academic records, and HSK3 certificate.
For Master’s degree: the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree, recommended by two associate professors or above, academic records, and HSK6 certificate.
For Doctoral degree:the applicants should have Master’s degree, academic records, recommended by two associate professors or above, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
