The School of Humanities and Social Sciences was founded on June 5, 1995.There are 80 faculty members including 23 professors and 35 associate professors. Currently, there are 552 students enrolled in the school and more than 40 are international students.
The school has various areas of study including Philosophy, Literature, and History as well as Laws, Economics and Management. There are three undergraduate programs in Sociology, International Economy and Trade, and Chinese Language and Literature. The master degree programs are Philosophy, Sociology and Marxist Theory etc, totally 8 programs. There is also a PhD program in Social Engineering and Management. Additionally, the school has HIT Center of Chinese International Education which enrolls international students.
Since August, 2008, the teachers in this school have completed 6 national topics, 35 provincial topics. And they have published 347 academic papers, 60 teaching research papers; 29 monographs and 11 textbooks.
The school also tries to promote diversity and international exposure. They have significant collaboration with universities such as Western Washington University and University of Maryland in USA, University of York in Canada, University of Birmingham and Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in UK, Berlin Polytechnic University in Germany and so on. .

Requirement for Admission
All applicants should obey to the China's laws and the HIT regulations and must present health certificates and other necessary documents concerning their own academic achievement.
For the bachelor students, they should prepare the original copy of high school diploma, HSk certificate Level 6 and Health certificate. Moreover they must be under 35 years old.
For the master students, they must particularly prepare two recommendation letters from two professors. And their age must below 45 years old.
