The Department of Electronics and Information Engineering was established in 1960. This department is well respected in education and research; it has two National Grade A disciplines:
Information and Communication Engineering
Electronic Science and Technology
And post-doctoral research centers, with the same names, and it also has master’s degree programs in six research fields:
Communication and information systems
Signal and information processing
Electric magnetic field and microwave technology
Circuit and systems
Space information science and technology
Biological information technology
The last two fields can also grant and PhDs.
The department has one National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, which consists of two bachelor degrees:

The department of Electronics and Information Engineering has managed an Advanced Class for many years. It is the first department to accept All-English foreign students in our university, and has more than 160 undergraduate and higher level foreign students enrolled.
In 1996, the department and the 54th Research Institute of the Ministry of Electronics completed the development of the EIM-601 large digital program-controlled switchboard, which was awarded the Grand Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress by the Ministry of Electronics.
The courses, Electronic Technology, Electronic Circuit Design and Test Technology and Telecommunication Electronic Circuits have all won the title of National Excellent Courses.
The department has numerous students and has achieved much in talent cultivation. Many students have been awarded grand prize or first prize in national or prestigious international competitions.
Development is the most important task of the department. According to the ideas of “undertake major projects, the development of a large team and building a large base, completing the major achievements”, it takes effort in the outstanding features of the department, in a prominent feature of the integration of resources, deepen the reform of education and the innovation in science and technology, strengthen national and international exchanges and cooperation, pushing on the development of the department comprehensively and continually. All the faculty and staff of the department keep the idea of “responsibility, enthusiasm, unity, tactics”, work hard to build a top-grade telecommunication subject.
