The College of Chinese Language & Literature of Hunan University was first established in 1930s-1950s. It had cultivated a large number of famous professors, including the sinology master Yang Shuda and the famous linguist Guo Xiliang, which had won a high reputation in domestic universities. Later due to the recombination of the college, a lot of high-qualified faculties and precious resources in library had been running off to the other universities.
With the development of China High-education recently, many universities are doom to work a way of constructing a sophisticated and complicated universities. It was no exception to Hunan University and rapidly the Major of Chinese Language & Literature was established. It had made great achievements in various aspects, thus the College of Chinese Language & Literature was finally established on October 31, 2002.
At present, it covers a group of 37 faculties, including 9 professors, 9 associate professors, among whom there are 19 doctoral degrees and 2 doctorial students. The eligibility, age structure, disciplines distribution are all considered to be reasonable and rational. What’s more, it covers 7 teaching and research sections including Ancient Chinese Literature, Contemporary & Modern Chinese Literature, Comparative Literature & World Literature, Chinese Language & Literature, Literature & Art & Writing, and Layout of Culture Industry, 5 offices and one key laboratory.
The College attaches great importance on teaching and scientific research. Moreover, it puts great emphasize on establishing wide corporations and relationships with a lot of domestic and international universities in academic exchange. It begins to enroll students from overseas every year and the number of international students has reached more and more.

Application time
For Degree applicants, the deadline for application is July 1 every year. The academic year begins in September.
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: the applicants should have senior high school diploma, academic records, health certificate and HSK3 certificate.
For Master’s degree: the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree, recommended by two associate professors or above, academic records, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
For Doctoral degree:the applicants should have Master’s degree, academic records, recommended by two associate professors or above, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
