The predecessor of the School of Basic Medical Sciences was the basic department founded in 1980. In 2007, the current name came to existence. School of Basic Medical Sciences now has 8 departments and one basic medical experiment center. Currently, it has five master’s programs--- basic theories of Chinese Medicine, history and literature of Chinese medicine, science of prescription, traditional Chinese diagnostics, basic combination of the traditional Chinese and western medicine. Besides, it has 2 provincial level key disciplines and one university-level discipline. In addition, it has one provincial level experimental teaching demonstration center (basic medical sciences)
School of Basic Medical Sciences now has 117 teaching and administrative staffs. Of the 97 qualified full-time teachers, 14 are professors, 27 are associate professors and 30 are lecturers. 59.8% of the teachers have master’s degree or above. Among the teachers, 17 are experimental technicians, 2 are famous teachers of Jiangxi Province, 4 are young backbone teachers of Jiangxi Province, 26 are master’s tutors, etc. Currently, they are undertaking 76 kinds of curriculums of the whole university, including 43 undergraduate programs, 24 master’s programs and 9 vocational programs. School of Basic Medical Sciences now has 6 university-level high-quality curriculums and 6 bilingual teaching curriculums.
In recent years, School of Basic Medical Sciences has held 69 scientific research projects, of which, 6 were at state-level, 17 were at ministerial level and one was international cooperative project. The total fund of the projects amounts to over 5,100,000 yuan. And it has won lots of scientific research awards at different levels. Besides, School of Basic Medical Sciences has published over 300 academic theses, of which, 130 were published in national core periodicals. And it has compiled nearly 50 teaching materials and monographs. The total value of the teaching and scientific research equipments amounts to over 7 million yuan. The experimental building area covers an area of 8,960 square meters. In addition, the reference room has a collection of over 20,000 volumes.

Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Applicants must be under the age of 35 years, and in good physical condition, holding a non-China passport and having graduated from high school, academic records, have an HSK test score of grade 3 or above.
For Master’s degree: Applicants must be under 40 of age and in good physical condition, holding a non-China passport and a Bachelor’s degree, have 2 letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, have an HSK test score of level 5 or above.
