School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE) possesses 1 national key discipline on chemical engineering, 2 Guangdong provincial key disciplines on applied chemistry and chemical techniques, 1 key laboratory of heat conduction and intensification and process energy saving of Ministry of Education, 1 Guangdong provincial key laboratory of green chemical products technology, 1 provincial key laboratory of modern chemical engineering technology of Guangdong Ministry of Education, 1 Guangdong provincial demonstrating center of chemical engineering experiments. Moreover, it has, the second program of national “985 Project”, the scientific and researching platform, including national platform of “Highly Application of Energy”, provincial platforms of “Technology of Petroleum Chemical Engineering” and “Electronic Chemistry and Fuel-cell”. It has authorized to the first post-doctoral station in China in1988. Now, it offers 5 bachelor programs, 12 master programs, and 12 Ph.D. programs. Meantime, it also cultivates Environmental Engineering masters and doctors.

Now, CCE has 209 faculty, including 2 adjunct academicians, 2 "Science Grant for National Outstanding Youth" from the state, 2 teaching commissionaires of Teaching Guiding Committee of Ministry of Education, 1 lecture professor of “Yangtze Scholar”, 1 professor of “Pearl River Scholar”, 41 professors ( including 29 doctoral advisors, 70 master advisors), 76 associate professors, and more than 70% of the staff bearing Ph.D., including 20% foreign doctor degrees, and most of young teachers with oversea study experience. At present, it enrolls 1,138 undergraduates, 784 candidates seeking master degrees and doctor degrees.

CCE boasts its strong capacity on scientific research and development. It is responsible for many national key projects of “973 Project”, “863 project”, Nature Science Founded key projects, Outstanding Youth Founded projects, and a lot of other national nature science founded projects, Guangdong provincial projects, ministry science researching and teaching projects, Research and development projects entrusted by industrial enterprises, and international cooperation research projects.
