The Faculty of Materials and Textiles integrates teaching and scientific research with century-old history. Boasting distinctive features, profound teaching facilities, and strong and solid teaching power, it was finally established in December, 1994 and got renamed as the present faculty in 1999. It began to enroll undergraduate students in 1959. Currently, it has 4 departments, including Department of Textile Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Light Chemical Engineering, and Department of Design and Packaging Engineering.
The Faculty has a capacity of over 90 staff with 21 full senior titles and 31 associate senior titles. Among them, there are 25 Doctoral degrees and 10 doctoral supervisors. Most of them have experiences of studying and visiting abroad. In recent years, the Faculty has invited a large number of domestic and international professors, scholars to work as shared, part-time and guest professors. Moreover, it has established friendly relationships and cooperation with lots of universities from U.S., Japan, England, Brazil, India, Germany and Hongkong, Macao, Taiwan of China.
At present, it is home to Textile Engineering for doctoral program, 6 master programs, covering Textile Chemistry and Dyeing and Finishing Engineering, Textile Material and Textiles Design, Materials Processing Engineering, Materialogy, Material Physics and Chemistry, and Textile Engineering, as well as 3 master programs for Engineering. Besides, there are 4 Bachelor’s degree programs available.
The Faculty lays great importance to scientific research. In the past years, it has undertaken a considerable number of projects of National Nature Fund, “863 Project”, National Science and Technology Brainstorm Project, and Zhejiang projects on different levels. All of the research has made great achievements and brought a high reputation for the Faculty. Many awards have been entitled in recent 5 years. The students it trained are very popular with the employers and they can be competent enough to various fields of work.

Undergraduate students: 4-5years
Postgraduate students: 2-3years
Doctoral students: 3 years
Application time
The time for application is September to January for spring term, March to August for autumn term.
The time for enrollment is End of January or February for spring term, September for fall term.
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree:
Be above 18 years old, senior high school graduate, HSK3 certificate or above, in good physical condition.
For Master’s degree:
Have Bachelor’s degree or above, HSK3 certificate or above, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good physical condition.
For Doctoral degree:
Have Master’s degree or above, HSK3 certificate or above, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good physical condition.
