Qualifications for Admission:
1. Basic Conditions
Every foreign student must obey the laws of China and the decrees of Chinese government, abide by the rules and regulation of the University and respect Chinese ways and customs. Any student who has violated Chinese law or regulations, endangered China's national security, disturbed public order or harmed the interests of others will be not enrolled and will be punished by the Chinese security and judicial departments according to law.
2. Academic Requirements
◆ Undergraduate Candidates: The applicant should be under the age of 25 and must have academic transcripts and a diploma equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate. He /She may be recruited after examination and approval by the University.
◆ Master's Degree Candidates: The applicant should be under the age of 40 and must have Bachelor's degree or a similar graduation certificate equivalent to a Bachelor's degree holder in China. Undergraduate courses, academic transcripts and two recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors should be submitted. He /She may be recruited after examination and approval by the University.
◆ Ph. D Degree Candidates: The applicant should be under the age of 45 and must have Master's degree or a similar graduation certificate equivalent to a Master's degree holder in China. Postgraduate courses, academic transcripts, graduation thesis and two recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors should be submitted. He /She may be recruited after examination and approval by the University.
◆ General Advanced Students: The applicant should be under the age of 35 and should have at least two years of undergraduate studies, and should intend to continue studying in China a related subject in which he/she already has some background. The programme generally lasts for one or two years.
◆ Senior Advanced Students: The applicant should be under the age of 45 and have at least the equivalent of the Chinese Master's degree, and will pursue advanced study independently under the direction of Chinese supervisor. The programme generally lasts for one or two years.
◆ Chinese Language Students: The applicant should be under the age of 55 and should have a diploma equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate. The program generally lasts for one or two years.
3. Health Requirements
Foreign students who come to study in China must be in good health, free from any serious or infectious diseases or severe physical handicap. Before coming to China, they should undergo a careful health check-up. Those who have any kind of the diseases will not be permitted to enter China. Should anyone be identified as having any of these diseases in China, they will be asked to withdraw from the program and leave the country immediately at their own expense:
4. Language Requirements
All undergraduates are required to study their specialties in the Chinese language. Any student who does not know Chinese or whose knowledge of it is below the necessary level, is required to study the language for one or two years and has to pass an examination in it before taking up his/her specialties.
Candidates for advanced degrees (Master's or PhD degree) should have attained a higher level of competence in Chinese language and be able to use it in pursuing study and research in their special field.
Students for advanced degrees (Master's or PhD degree) admitted to programmes which the medium of instruction is not the Chinese language are required, however, to take some Chinese language courses to help them in their daily lives and for the writing of their thesis abstracts.
Students Enrollment Service:
1. Any international student who hope to study in the university should send his/her letter of application directly to the OVERSEAS STUDENTS OFFICE of the University, giving his/her educational background and Chinese language level, to request the "Guide to Study in China University of Geosciences " and the " Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to study in China" and "Visa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China (JW202). "
2. The applicant should submit the following documents to the Section completed Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to study in China University of Geosciences , Curriculum Vitae, Diplomas, Degree Certificates, and Academic Transcripts, and letters of recommendation from two associate professors for Master's and PH.D students.
3. If the application is approved by the University, the successful applicant will receive an "Admission Notice", and a "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners".
4. The successful applicant should apply for a student visa (X Visa) at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their own country, presetting of the above three documents,i.e. "Admission Notice", "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners" and (JW202) form.
5. The successful applicant is required to register, in the Section within the fixed time given on the Admission Notice with 8 photos of passport size. Those who fail to register within the time limit, without valid reason, will be disqualified.
