Our tour guide and private car/van with driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 8:30am. Start tour to the Old Summer Palace (45 minutes drive, 1.5 hour visit). The Old Summer Palace, generally known as Yuanmingyuan, consists of three gardens: Changchunyuan, Wanchunyuan and Yuanmingyuan. It was the former summer resort of the imperial family of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the 10th year (1860) of Emperor Xianfeng, the Anglo and French allied forced invaded Beijing and burned the palace to the ground. The garden was looted and burned again after partial restoration in 1900 when the Eight-Power Allied Forces sent by Britain, the United States, Germany, France, Tsarist Russia, Japan, Italy and Austria occupied Beijing.
After the tour in Yuanmingyuan, enjoy lunch in a traditional Chinese restaurant.
We go on to visit the next tour site, Fragrant Hill (half an hour drive, 1.5 hours visit). Fragrant Hill is a large forest park with the characteristics of imperial gardens in which natural landscape is combined with artificial scenery. Its highest peak, 557 meters above sea level, looks like a huge incense burner, so it gets the name “Incense Burner Peak.” You may enjoy the beautiful scenery. It is also renowned for red leaves which can only last for around a month. The best time to see them is the middle of Oct to the first of Nov.
The last tour site today is Badachu Park. The name Badachu means Eight Great Sites, and refers to the eight Buddhist temples and monasteries scattered across Cuiwei, Pingpo and Lushi hills at the foot of Beijing's Western Hills Scenic Area. One site in it is most worthy of a visit, that’s Lingguang Temple. The Lingguang Temple is famous for stupa which stands majestically, the golden fish pond where the beautiful brocade carps swim delightedly, the heart sutra wall and arhats wall present splendid sight. The Sarira (Buddha Remain) is displayed in the Lingguang Temple.
