South China Normal University was founded in 1933. It is a comprehensive national key project 211 university (project 211 means China will build 100 Top Universities during the 21st Century). Furthermore, it can provide the scholarship sponsored by government.

 Application Requirement
 Chinese language students
 Graduated from junior middle school, 18 to 65 years old. Students who study Cantonese must have acquired the basic skills of mandarin listening, speaking.
 Undergraduate students
 Equal to high school qualification in China, Applicants must be below the age of 55, 4-year study (5 years for Medical).
 Master graduate student
 Equal to Undergraduate qualification in China, recommended by two associate professors or above, passing the Master graduate entrance examination, Applicants must be below the age of 40. 3-year study.
 Doctor graduate student
 Equal to Master graduate in China, recommended by two adjunct professors or above, passing the Doctor graduate entrance examination, Applicants must be below the age of 45, study for 3 years.
Note: requirement to Chinese language level: HSK 6 or above is required for Liberal Arts, Economy, Management students; and HSK 3 or above is required for Science, Engineering course and Medical students.

Note:*College of International Culture carries on two semesters in an academic year. Usually, the first semester is from Sep 1 to Jan. 15.  The second is from February to July. The duration of other programs is arranged by the University.* the test of graduate student is decided and organized by the departments or faculties accordingly.

Long-term Chinese Language Program
 
1. Brief Introduction:
      The long-term Chinese language program is offered to international students who are interested in Chinese language and culture. There are six levels. Students will be clarified into the suitable level (class) after taking the placement test. Our experienced teachers will also provide their suggestion after interview.

The six levels are as the following:
 Elementary 1, Elementary 2:Intermediate 1,Intermediate 2:Advanced 1,Advanced 2
Courses:
The compulsory courses:
Chinese Comprehensive Training, Listening and Speaking, Reading Comprehension, Readings in Newspapers and Periodicals, News listening comprehension, Chinese Composition, Advanced Chinese and the Culture of China, etc.
Optional courses:
HSK (primary, middle and advanced levels), Cantonese, Business Chinese, Chinese Handwriting, Chinese Numeral Input(typing Chinese with numbers), Taiji, Chinese Kongfu, Pronunciation Training, Chinese Music, and Calligraphy, etc..
Teaching periods:
 One academic year is divided into two semesters. There are 18 weeks or 20 weeks of actual teaching period each semester and 20 class hours each week.

Students will take part in the placement test after registration to learn their own Chinese proficiency.

Short-term Chinese Language and Cultural Program
 
1. Eligibilities for Application
    Only open to Group application (Minimum is 10 students for each group)
    Students must be in good health
    Completed Application Form
    Two passport-size photos
 
2. Curriculum
    Concentrated on Chinese conversation or depend on the group requirements.

3. Schedule and Arrangements
    Morning: 8:40-12:00 Chinese courses, Monday to Friday
    Afternoon: Lectures on Chinese culture and history, various activities such as City Sight-seeing, learning Chinese Calligraphy, Martial Art, Tai Ji, exchanging with Chinese students and so on.
    Weekend: Field-trips on the request of the group. (Minimum is 10 students)
Remarks: All the arrangements are flexible and the final schedule will be concluded after fully discussion by both sides.

         two weeks RMB1,500/person

The fee of Chinese, lectures and field trip will be counted on the actual arrangements
 
Intensive Chinese Program
 
Course Object:
Intensive Chinese program is a carefully orchestrated course provided by College of International Culture (CIC), South China Normal University. Based on highly-intensive training, various extracurricular activities, pure Chinese environment, the course aims to help students make breakthrough progress in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing in short term. HSK 3 will be reached in one semester and HSK 6 will be reached in two semesters.
One-semester's time, two or three semesters` progress

Target Group:
Students who want to improve their Chinese proficiency in short run.

Teaching features:
Small class size (8-10 students per class) :
Combination of classroom teaching and extracurricular activities;
Exchange with Chinese students;
Speech Competition;
Chinese Corner and so on.

Course hours:
There are 18-20 weeks in one semester with 30 class periods per week and three-afternoon tutorial (6 class periods).

Curriculum:
     Comprehensive Courses, Intensive Chinese, Intensive Practice;
     Language skills Courses: Listening & Speaking; Reading & Writing;
     Extensive Courses: HSK Preparation, Business Chinese and so on

Timetable:
Morning: 8:40-12:00 (MONDAY-FRIDAY)
Afternoon: 14:30-16:00 MONDAY-FRIDAY
Tutorial: 16:10-17:40(MONDAY,WENDESDAY,FRIDAY)

Certificate and credits:
Upon the successful completion, a certificate will be issued by CIC, SCNU.
