SIE is an institution  at UIBE to  recruit and supervise foreign students. SIE’s  responsibilities involve  publicizing international education program,  receiving consultation, recruiting  overseas students, taking charge of  students’ education information and  providing assistance to students’  daily life. Meanwhile, SIE provides training  programs in various  languages, such as “An Introduction to Chinese” and  “Business Chinese”  to all kinds of communities, firms and individuals. Refresher  courses  like “China Economy and Culture” are offered as well. 
 
At the moment, over  2300 foreign  students from more than 90 countries and areas are  studying at UIBE, about 1400  of who are studying for a degree while the  other 900, for languages and various  advanced studies. In addition, a  large number of communities and individual  students come to UIBE for a  visit or short-term studies. Till now, thousands of  foreign students  have studied at UIBE, which provides them with not only a  chance to  improve Chinese proficiency, but also specialized knowledge in terms  of  Chinese culture, economy and trade. Many graduated students have been  cadre  forces in their countries’ cultural communication and economic  interaction with  China.

Tuition Fees
Degree students should pay for a year on registration dates of each fall  semester. The tuition fee is RMB 49,750/year.
Non-degree students should pay for the chosen credits during  registration  of schooling semester. The tuition fee is RMB  1,800/credit.

4. Remedial  Courses
In order to help  students adapt to  the Chinese academic environment as quickly as  possible, UIBE offers remedial  classes for students to improve their  Chinese level In their specific major. In  order to participate in these  remedial classes, all students admitted into the  master programs  offered in Chinese must arrive at UIBE IN THE SPRING SEMESTER   (March-July) before they begin their Master program the following  September.  These remedial classes are not included in the credits  leading to the Master's  Degree.

Common Chinese Language  Training Programs
 
1. Curriculum  provision
    ※Elementary Chinese  
This program is divided  into  beginner, intermediate and advanced levels with each level  further divided into  3 levels to allow students at similar Chinese  levels to be grouped together.  Each class consists of 8-15 students. 
The curriculum focuses  on listening,  speaking, reading, and writing skills, modern grammar and  essay writing. The  program normally takes 2-3 semesters to complete  and at the end of the program,  beginners reach a higher Chinese  proficiency level. 
    ※Business  Chinese
The program is divided  into  beginner, intermediate and advanced levels with each level further  divided into  2-4 classes of 8-15 students each at a similar Chinese  level. Students should  already have a firm grasp of basic Chinese  before starting the business Chinese  program. The curriculum aims at  improving students' spoken and listening  proficiency in business  Chinese, and teaching business writing, and newspaper  reading. The  program normally takes 2-3 semesters to complete and at the end of  the  program students would be able to attain higher Chinese proficiency  level in  business environment.

Students who have  completed all the  courses and passed all the course examinations will  be granted a certificate of  completion.

Short-Term Training  Program
 
1. SHORT-TERM BUSINESS  STUDIES
In this short-term  program that  lasts 4 weeks, students may choose 4 courses including  Chinese politics,  society, economy and culture. This program will not  open until there are at  least 10 students applying. At the end of the  program, the students will receive  a certificate of completion from  UIBE. At leisure, UIBE also organizes trips to  companies or historical  sites such as places in Xi'an, Dunhuang, Hangzhou,  Shenzhen, Shanghai  ,Hong Kong, Macao and so on. The tuition fees and expenses  for visiting  and trips will be charged according to the specific curriculum and   traveling lines.
2. SHORT-TERM CHINESE  TRAINING PROGRAMS
Short-term Chinese  programs vary  from 4 to 6 weeks, and the courses focus on developing  speaking and listening  skills. The courses will cater to the students'  different Chinese language  levels. Besides classroom instruction, the  program also offers lectures on  Chinese culture, history, business, and  economics in English, Korean or  Japanese. The Chinese language classes  are held in the morning for a total of 15  hours per week. Lectures and  historical sites visits will be arranged in the  afternoon. During  weekends, the program may arrange field trips in Beijing or  nearby  regions. For groups of 10 or more students, a class may start at any  time  and the tuition of Chinese language training for each student is  RMB 3600 for 4  weeks and RMB 5400 for 6 weeks. UIBE will issue a  certificate to each student  after completion. Application shall begin  at least 3 months in advance.
