Introduction

BeiHang University (BUAA), formerly called Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was founded in 1952 and was the first university in aerospace technology in China. Since 1950s, BUAA has been one of the 16 key universities of China . At present 30,000 students are enrolled in BUAA and among them 10,000 are graduates.

There are 44 fields lead to doctoral degree, 70 fields lead to master degree and 43 specialties leading to bachelor degree for foreign students. There are 21 research institutes, 16 interdisciplinary research centers and 81 laboratories in BUAA.

There is a collection of over 1.5 million volumes both Chinese and English version in BUAA's library. The campus of BUAA is notable for its beautiful environment, convenient transportation and complete and high quality service in students' daily life and study.

BUAA is qualified to admit foreign students sponsored by Chinese Government Scholarship and accepts over 500 short and long-term foreign students from more than 20 countries annually, among them 160 are studying for master or doctoral degree and more than 300 studying for Chinese Language in Chinese Training Center of BUAA.

English is used as courses and instruction language for the master and doctoral programs.

Now, BUAA has grown into an engineering and technology university with aerospace features, combining disciplines in science, engineering, liberal arts, law, economics, management and education, while maintaining the leading role in technology. This university comprises 25 schools and departments .

Asia-Pacific Space Education Center
 
The Asia-Pacific Space Education Center (APSEC) is responsible for promoting international cooperation in the peaceful uses of space education. The APSEC serves as the education institute for the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) with multilateral cooperation in the peaceful uses of space technology and application.

The APSEC is sponsored by Beihang University . Some of the professors are from the institutes, academies and industries in China ; the others are from the APSCO. At present, the principal supporters are China National Space Administration and the secretariat of APSCO.

Currently, The Program on Space Applications is implemented by APSEC and works to improve the use of space technology and application for the economic and social development of Asia-Pacific nations, in particular developing countries.

Under the Program, the APSEC conducts Master program, training courses, workshops, student internship, international camp, seminars and other activities on applications and capacity building in subjects such as remote sensing, communications, satellite meteorology applications, space and atmosphere sciences, basic space science, and space project management.
