Founded in 1940, Chongqing Institute of Technology (CQIT) has now become a regular institution of higher learning that keeps engineering as its mainstay and takes account of engineering, economics, management, science, arts and law.

CQIT covers an area of more than 150 hectares with a floorage of 480 '000 M2. Presently, we have 1,412 staff members and 14,127 students. We have 17 secondary teaching units, 32 undergraduate majors, 13 master-degree majors, 1 productivity promotion center approved and constructed by National Technology Department, 1 key research base for human and social science, 3 model engineering and technology research centers, 5 key provincial-level disciplines, 6 key laboratories. The library has a collection of 1.55 million books.
