Wuhan is a generic name, referring to the three linked mid-Yangtze Rivercities of Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang.Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, is the largest city in Central China. Wuhan has always been known as the "Thoroughfare of Nine Provinces.” Wuhan has a long history and rich cultural heritage. The city has a solid industrial foundation, with metallurgy, machinery, light industry, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electronics and building materials is its pillar industries. Some promising high-tech sectors are rising, including fiber optics, biological engineering, lasers, microelectronics, and new materials.
 
Wuhan belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate. There are sufficient rainfall and sunshine as well as four distinct seasons. Climate here is pleasant generally. In recent thirty years, the average annual rainfall is 1269mm, mainly from June to August; annual temperature is 15.8℃-17.5℃, annual frost free period lasts 211 to 272 days and annual sunlight duration is 1810 to 2100 hours.

Yellow Crane Tower
Yellow Crane Tower, one of Four Major Towers in China, is situated on Snake Hill of Wuchang Distict. It was said that Yellow Crane Tower was originally built in 223 AD with a history of over 1700 years. Previously it was destroyed in frequent disasters and rebuilt. The new Yellow Crane Tower was completed in June 1985, and listed by National Tourism Administration into National Best Forty Scenic Spots for Tourists.The Yellow Crane Tower has a very long and complicated history. It was first built in 223, during the Three Kingdoms Period (220 - 280). Due to the ideal location, it was built by Sun Quan (182 - 252, King of Wu) as a watchtower for his army. After hundreds of years, its military function was gradually forgotten and the tower was enjoyed mainly as a picturesque location.
 
East Lake Scenic Zone
West Lake is located west of Hangzhou City. There are dozens of lakes called West Lake worldwide, but "West Lake" usually refers to the west lake in Hangzhou. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with an area of around 6.5 square kilometers. The distance from north to south is about 3.2 kilometers, and east to west, 2.8 kilometers. The circumference is around 15 kilometers. The average depth of West Lake is 2.27 meters, and the capacity is about 14,290,000 cubic meters. The lake is divided by Gu Shan, Bai, Su and Yanggong Causeways into five areas. Ordered by their areas, they are Outer West Lake, West Inner Lake, North Inner Lake, Little South Lake and Yue Lake. "Outer West Lake" is the largest. "Gu Shan" or Gu Hill is the largest natural island in the lake. Su & Bai Causeways run cross the lake. Three small man-made islands, "Xiao Ying Zhou", "Hu Xing Ting", "Ruan Gong Dun", lie in the center of Outer West Lake. Thus, the basic layout is "one hill, two causeways, three islands, and five lakes".
 
Local Snacks
Re Gan Mian (Hot-dry Noodles)
It is reputed to be one of the five most famous types of noodle in China and the most favorite choice for breakfast by Wuhan people. The chef first cooks the fresh noodles mixed with sesame oil in boiling water. When the noodles have cooked and cooled, it becomes pliable. Then, each time before eating, the noodle will be cooked in the same process again. Finally, dressings including spring onion and sauce will be added. You can try a bowl of Re Gan Mian for1.5rmb which is 0.2dollars.Dozens of street vendors and small restaurants in the city sell Re Gan Mian. Among them Cai Lin Ji noodle restaurant located at No. 854, Zhongshan Dadao in Hankou is the best. It is said that they sell 15,000 bowls every day.
 
San Xian Dou Pi (Fried Bean Sheets)
Ingredients including bean curd sheets, meat, eggs and smashed shrimps are made into fillings. The chef uses skins made of bean and rice flour to wrap those ingredients and fry in oil. Eggs are often added to bring a crisp cover. Chairman Mao praised it each time he ate. The king of this snack is Tong Cheng Restaurant at Dazhi Crossing of Zhongshan Dadao in Hankou.
