一、Application Procedure

    (一)Application


Applicants may directly submit their application for admission to HNU through relevant foreign agencies, non-governmental organizations or individuals. The individual application shall be as follows:


Applicants may visit Hangzhou Normal University Foreign Affairs Network, visit International Students Admission Network Platform, then choose “language”, click “Online Application” on the top and select “ Online Registration”, fill out the registration form. Then, log onto admission platform, and select “Online Application”, submit the application materials and the bank remittance receipts of application fee. The status of application could be confirmed online after finishing all the procedures. 

Applicants maydownload theInternational Students Application Form for Admission of Hangzhou Normal University, then fax or mail the downloaded application form together with other application materials and the bank remittance receipts of application fee to the International Student Affairs Office of Hangzhou Normal University and wait for the university’s Admission Notice


(二)Student type and study period


The study period for all kinds of international students is shown as follows,


1. junior college students,  2-3 years;


2. undergraduate students,  4-6 years;


3. graduate students, 2-3 years;


Chinese language students, General visiting students and Senior visiting students, no time limits.


  (三)Qualification of applicants


1. Foreign citizens in good health;


2. Education requirements:


  a. Undergraduate students under 30 should have a Certificate of Graduation from senior high school or above.


  b. Graduate students under 40 should have a Bachelor degree or above.


  c. General visiting students under 65 should have a Certificate of Graduation from senior high school or above.


  d. Senior visiting students under 65 should have a Master degree or above, or at least be an associate professor.       


  (四)Application material requested


1. Undergraduate students,


  a. the completed Undergraduate & Graduate Students Application Form of Hangzhou Normal University signed by the applicants;


  b. the Certificate of Graduation from senior high school and transcript (or proof of equivalent academic background)


  c. the Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners.


  d.HSK certificate and score report (For English-teaching programs, HSK score report of such kind of applicants is not requested:)


2. Graduate students,


  a. the completed Undergraduate & Graduate Students Application Form of Hangzhou Normal University signed by the applicants;


  b. the Bachelor degree and transcript (or proof of equivalent academic background)


  c. the Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners.


  d. the transcript of final degree;


  e. HSK certificate and score report (For English-teaching programs in, HSK score report of such kind of applicants is not requested:)


  f. at least twoacademic recommendation letters from scholars of associate professors or higher (in English or Chinese)


3. General visiting students,


  a. the completed Chinese Language Students Application Form of Hangzhou Normal University signed by the applicants;


  b. the Certificate of final degree;


  c. the Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners


4. Senior visiting students or visiting scholars,


  a. the completed Chinese Language Students Application Form of Hangzhou Normal University signed by the applicants;


  b. the Certificate of final degree;


  c. the Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners.


  d. the research plan.


5. Short-term Chinese Language students should submit the following materials,


the completed Chinese Language Students Application Form of Hangzhou Normal University signed by the applicants;


Notes:


1. The copies of the above-mentioned materials should be submitted at the time of application, while the originals of those materials are needed at the time of admission and registration.


2. Applicants with over 1 year of study period should present proof of physical examination record.


3. Applicants under 18 should also provide the materials of theirguarantors (the guarantors are Chinese citizens working in Hangzhou with stable income)


The Materials provided by guarantors,


a.  Copies of I.D. Cards;


b.  Company name, address and phone number;


Notarized documents of Letter of Authorization by applicants’ parents. 


   (五)Admission


Students shall receive Admission Notices sent by e-mail by our university after checking with their application materials. After getting the Admission Notice, the admitted students should remit their tuition fees to our university account number, and upload the bank remittance receipts to our e-mail box of international student affairs office:isoadmission@hznu.edu.cn. Receiving their bank remittance receipts, we shall mail the Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) and the International Students Admission Notice of Hangzhou Normal University to them. Then these students should bring the above-listed materials to the Embassy or Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in their countries, and apply for a student visa (X visa) (F visa shall be issued with less than a half year of studying in China). 


   二、Enrollment and Registration


After arriving at our university, students should go to register at international student affairs office by presenting the Admission Notice, passport and the original of their application materials. The international student affairs office shall check with those materials and help them handle their temporary residence registration, residence permits, student IDs. Students could get registered at their corresponding colleges by the enrollment letters issued by the office.
2010 Confucius Institute Scholarship
(Annotation: Exempt from tuition fee and accommodation fees. Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan are provided. Living Expenses: RMB1400/month. Settlement subsidy: RMB1000/semester or RMB1500/academic year. The eligibility of student for this scholarship will be reevaluated each year)

Basic Requirements: Chinese Language Students
Other Requirements:
1、Outstanding students from Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) worldwide;
2、Foreign teachers who are teaching or planning to teach Chinese as a second language;
3、Students who received distinguished grade from the Chinese Examination series held by Confucius Institute Headquarters;
4、Outstanding Contestants in “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition;
5、Applicants who meet the requirements of other of Confucius Institute Headquarters agreements.
6、Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
Application Materials(in duplicate)
1、Completed “Application Form for Confucius Institute Scholarship”, filled and printed, both in Chinese and English. The form can be downloaded from the Hanban website and/or the Confucius Institute Online athttp://english.hanban.edu.cn orhttp://cis.chinese.cn.
    2、A photocopy of the passport page with your photo on it;
3、Copy of Diploma and Transcript (Documents in language other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English);
4、Certificates of Chinese Proficiency (It could be the certificates of Chinese language learning or HSK);
5、Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Record Form;
6、Personal Statements, indicating the applicant’s Chinese learning background, study plan and goals in China, etc. The statement should be no less than 200 words, printed in either Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.
7、Applicants under the age of 18 should submit a notarized guarantee certificate of the guardian andemergent contact of their legal guardians;

    1、Log onto the websitehttp://english.hanban.edu.cn, click “Scholarship” on the top of the webpage, choose “Application procedures for Confucius Institute Scholarship”, and then finish your application as shown in it.
2、Applicant will get his/her username, password and application number. This message will be sent to your email address.
3、Please use the given username and password to log on the online system then fill in and print the application form.

2010 Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship
for International Students in China
(Annotation: RMB6000/academic year. The eligibility of student for this scholarship will be reevaluated each year)
Eligibility
Basic Requirements: Chinese Language Students
Other Requirements:
1、Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens with foreign passports, friendly to China, and in good health.
2、Current students are required to do well in school. There are no any in-school violation of school disciplines and regulations, such as coming to work late and leaving early, absenteeism, etc. There are no any outside-school violation of Chinese laws and regulations. Applicants have to top his grade or class.
3、Applicants have to acquire corresponding Chinese language level, and submit related documents such as HSK certificate, other certificates for Chinese language learning and test et.al.
4、Applicants haven’t been recipient of any other scholarships.

1、《Application Form of Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in China》(It can be downloaded);
2、A photocopy of the passport page with your photo on it;
3、Copy of Diploma and Transcript (Documents in language other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English); meanwhile, current students should provide the letters of recommendation from related institutes they are studying in.
4、Certificates of Chinese Proficiency (It could be the certificates of Chinese language learning or HSK);
5、Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Record Form;
6、Personal Statements, indicating the applicant’s Chinese learning background, study plan and goals in China, etc. The statement should be no less than 200 words, printed in either Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

2010 Hangzhou Normal University
International Student Scholarship
(Annotation:The eligibility of student for this scholarship of Class A, B and C will be reevaluated each year.
Class A Scholarships:

2、Master’s candidate applicants must be graduates of universities which are recognized by the Chinese Government with excellent grades; Undergraduate candidates must have graduated from a foreign or domestic senior high school with excellent grades.
3、Applicants for Class A and B Scholarships should have corresponding Chinese language proficiency and submit related evidence, such as HSK certificate, and other certificates for Chinese language learning and test.
4、Current students are required to do well in school. There are no any in-school violation of school disciplines and regulations, such as coming to work late and leaving early, absenteeism, etc. There are no any outside-school violation of Chinese laws and regulations. They have to top his grade or class and have no any make-up examinations. Actively participate in the volunteer and social activities held by the Hangzhou city, university and Department.
5、Applicants haven’t been recipient of any other scholarships.

For Class A and B Scholarships:

2、A photocopy of the passport page with your photo on it;
3、Copy of Diploma and Transcript (Documents in language other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English); Current students should additionally provide the letters of recommendation from the related institutes they are studying in.
4、Certificates of Chinese Proficiency (It could be the certificates of Chinese language learning or HSK);
5、Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Record Form;
6、Personal Statements, indicating the applicant’s family financial conditions, Chinese learning background, academic background, work experience, study plan and goals in China, and post graduation personal development plan, etc. The statement should be no less than 200 words, printed in either Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.
7、Support Materials: If there are any published papers, awards certificates and other materials used to prove the academic achievement and research ability of applicant, please provide the title and abstract of your published paper, journal name and other certificates & documents of evidence.
For Class C Scholarships:
1、《Application Form for Hangzhou Normal University Scholarship》 (Class C);
2、A photocopy of the passport page with your photo on it;
3、Copy of Diploma and Transcript (Documents in language other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English); Current students should additionally provide the letters of recommendation from related institutes they are studying in and the transcript of last semester.
4、Certificates of Chinese Proficiency (It could be the certificates of Chinese language learning or HSK);
5、Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Record Form;
6、Personal Statements, indicating the applicant’s Chinese learning background, study plan and goals in China, etc. The statement should be no less than 200 words, printed in either Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.
7、Support Materials: Awards certificates or documents of evidence which prove the applicants participate in all kinds of activities.

The deadline of application is 12:00 am, May 31st.

The applicants’ eligibility of the above-listed scholarships is not applicable to inter-college exchange students. All the application materials will not be returned.
