Tour schedule:
Day 1: Beijing - Huangyaguan - Shanhaiguan
Hotel pick-up at 7:00am by our well-trained English-speaking tour guide & driver, then drive to the Huangyaguan Great Wall (2.5 hours drive) at Ji county, Tianjin. Upon arrival, hike on the west and east sections for 2 hours or so. Then enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, drive another 3 hours to get to Shanhaiguan Pass– known as "The First Pass Under the Heaven" as well as the gateway to central China from the northeast. Hike with an escort on Shanghaiguan pass for 40 minutes or so upon arrival. Later on, check into the local 3-Star hotel next to Shanhaiguan Pass.
Dinner will take place inside this 3-star hotel.

Day 2:Old Dragon's Head - Jiaoshan - Jiumenkou - Xiaoheikou
Hotel check out after having breakfast at 8:00am, then visit Laolongtou Great Wall– Old Dragon’s Head, the starting point of 4,000 mile-long Great Wall. Later on, explore the Great Wall at Jiaoshan (20 minutes driving distance, the only section of the Great Wall that overlooks the ocean), after 2 hours hiking at Jiaoshan, lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, drive to Jiumenkou Great Wall- a scenic section with a river running underneath. Hike on this section for about 1.5 hours, and also enjoy to see the Great Wall Tunnel– a 3,700-feet long tunnel, local says the tunnel was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) for hiding soldiers, but officials say it was constructed as an air-raid shelter after the founding of PRC (1949).
Be transferred to Xiaoheikou village after this tour. Dinner will take place in Mr. Liu home (a Great Wall lover and protector, living in this village since 2001). Stay overnight in his home.

Day 3: Xiaoheikou Sunrise - East & West Section of Xiaoheikou
Get up at 4-5am, lead by Mr. Liu to hike to a high point of the Great Wall (40 minutes or so) where to enjoy the view of breathtaking sunrise. After this, walk back to Mr. Liu's residence for breakfast.
7:30 am, hike towards the western section of Xiaoheikou for about 4-5 hours, break for a picnic lunch on the wall, be back to the village at 2:00 pm. After a short break, go on hiking to the east section of Xiaoheikou, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sunset on the Great Wall.
Dinner at 6:30pm.
Stay overnight here again.
Meal: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner
Day 4: Xiaoheikou - Gubeikou - Jinshanling
Leave Xiaoheikou at 6:00am, then driving for approximately 5.5 hours to the Gubeikou Great wall and have lunch. Then hike on for 4 hours to Jinshanling .
Upon arrival at Jinshanling, check-in to the local courtyard hotel (3-Star), dinner afterward.
Enjoy a peaceful night at the foot of the Great Wall.

Day 5: Jinshanling - Mutianyu - Beijing
After having breakfast at 8:00am, start to hike from Jinshanling to Simatai (closed) direction for 2 hours or so. then come back and check out at hotel, meet your driver and go directly to Mutianyu– the most famous part of the Walls in Beijing. Lunch in a local restaurant near Mutianyu. Hike on Mutianyu for 1.5 hours. Be transferred back to Beijing in the late afternoon.

Kindly Notice:
A. Hotel at Shanhaiguan: the hotel you will stay in is a good quality 3-Star hotel, centrally located in the town. Like many other 3-Star hotels it has a western bathroom, 24-hour hot water, free tooth brush, shampoo, etc, all available. Be sure to bring your passport!
Mr. Liu's Home: A nice, clean, and very typical dewelling in northern China, clean restroom and hot water are available, but nowhere to take a shower in winter.
Hotel at Jinshanling: Located at the foot of Jinshanling Great Wall, 3-Star standard. Nice & clean, it also has a western bathroom, 24-hour hot water, free tooth brush, shampoo, etc, all available.
B. Our guide will accompany you on the wall the entire time, if you need.
C. We will be hiking for extended amounts of time, so be sure to drink plenty of water and wear appropriate shoes. Hiking shoes are highly recommended.
D. Venders: There are many venders who make their livings on the Great Wall (only at Jinshanling & Simatai). Often they will wait for visitors at the entrance of the wall, and follow them almost the entire way. During the tour, they may help you, for example, help you carry your bag or give you a hand on the steep parts. If this occurs, a tip or purchase is expected.
