Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
 
Established in 1956, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the four earliest colleges of traditional Chinese medicine in China. The university has taken a leading position in the colleges of traditional Chinese medicine in China, with integration of education, medicine and scientific research, complete disciplines and majors and high-quality faculty. The university has been established with 16 subsidiary colleges and departments, 4 affiliated hospitals, 1 E-Institute, 12 affiliated or cooperative research institutes, 8 research centers, the earliest museum of medical history in China and the library containing collection of over 50,000 books. In 1999, the university passed the evaluation of “National Excellent College of Undergraduate Education”, being the only university of traditional Chinese medicine honored with this reputation in China.

The purpose of the University is to build up a university of traditional Chinese medicine that is high-leveled, researching, out-orienting, first-class at home and worldwide famous.
 
Supported by the educational resources in Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, International Education College is the higher education institution established particularly for overseas students in the university. In the past over 30 years since its establishment, this college has trained nearly 6,000 TCM doctors, acupuncturists and physical therapists from almost 100 countries and regions in the world, and provides the educational service to the overseas students by referring to ISO9001:2000 Quality Management System for the first time among all the colleges of traditional Chinese medicine in China. At present, there are 440 degree-course students, and over 1,000 short-term course students every year in the College. This college is also established with an International Acupuncture Training Center entrusted by WHO, provided by multiple language service in educational and exchanging activities, including four sections of professional translation in English, Japanese, French and Korean languages.

Requested Qualifications: High School Graduation and HSK-4 (Chinese language level examination), Passing the exam of mathematics, chemistry and physics organized by the university.

Comprehensive Course of Chinese, Conversation, Listening Comprehension, Reading in Chinese, Writing in Chinese, Chinese Grammar and the Culture of China
2. Elective Subjects
Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Chinese Music, Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Herbal Diet.
3. Language practice
Once every semester: Culture communications between Chinese and foreign students, performances in Chinese, sightseeing interpretation, etc.
Duration: 6months to 3 years
Certificate: The students are requested to attend tests and examinations in every subject periodically. Those who have passed all the tests and examinations will be issued with completion certificates.
