The School of International Business Administration (SIBA) was founded in 1998, and was established on the basis of the amalgamation of the three former individual departments and specialty, namely department of Industrial Economics, department of Trade Economics, and International trade specialty of department of World Economy. The department of Industrial Economics can trace back to July, 1921 which was then the department of Business Administration at Shanghai Business University.
At present, the School of International Business Administration at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SHUFE) has 8 departments with 6 doctoral programs and 6 master programs in the following areas: Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Industrial Economics, International Trade, Marketing, Tourism Management, World Economy and Operations Management. Among them, the departments of Industrial Economics, Business Administration and International Trade are evaluated as the Key Subject in Shanghai. Additionally, the school has established three school-level research centers including Research Center for Marketing, the Institute for World Expo Economy and Top 500 Enterprises Research Center.
The School has 75 faculty members; among them are 19 professors, 40 associate professors, and 16 lecturers (or assistant professors), including 41 PH.D (66%) and 19 Masters. Since 2006, the School has attracted a large number of short-term and regular visiting professors. Particularly, the school retains Guofu Tan as the dean of SIBA. With the help of these professors and the effort of our faculty members and students, the School has recently improved significantly in teaching and research.
In the academic research, practical application and government consulting, the school gets a lot of funding and research achievements. From 2000 to 2007, the school got 13 foundations from NSFC and 12 foundations from National Philosophy and Social Science Foundation of China. The school also got a lot of funding from the companies. There are about 80 projects and over 8 million RMB in each year.
There are more than 1100 undergraduates, about 500 graduate students currently studying and doing research in the School. The employment situation of the graduates of SIBA is very pleasing and the employment rate is around 97% each year. The students are mainly employed by foreign enterprises, top 500 enterprises, large state-owned enterprises, financial institutes, colleges and universities, research institutes, government institutes, etc. The graduates of the school are always well evaluated by the employing units

Application time
The application time for undergraduate students is from May 5 to June 30. The deadline of applying for master’s degree and doctoral degree is May 30.
Entry requirements
The students applying for bachelor’ degree should prepare a personal statement in Chinese, HSK certificate and other relevant document and certificates.
For the master graduate students, they must be18 years old or above and below 45 years old, university graduates with bachelor’s degree, healthy foreigners, and have passed HSK Grade 7.
For the doctor students, they must be university graduates with master’s degree, healthy foreigners, HSK Grade 8.
