Admission Information
Brief Introduction
Anhui University of TCM is a multidisciplinary higher institution with traditional Chinese medicine science as its focus; it also touches the fields of technology, engineering, management and economics. The University has become a major base for the higher education of traditional Chinese medicine, medical service and scientific research in the province. It has 12 schools offering 3 key courses of the provincial level, 1 key course of the national level, 18 Master’s degree-awarding spots, 4 bases for cultivating the doctorial students cooperating with other medical universities, 10 hi-tech TCM research institutes, 6 key laboratory of the provincial level, 2 affiliated hospitals of the provincial level, 1 TCM clinic and 1 hospital specializing in the combination of Chinese and Western medicine. It has 26 specialties leading to a Bachelor’s degree, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, Osteology, Rehabilitation and Nursing. There are nearly 8,000 students in the University. It has a qualified faculty, more than 400 of whom are professors and associate professors and 136 of whom are entitled to supervise students studying for a Master’s or a Ph.D’s degree. There are more than 800,000 volumes of books in the library. The Exhibition Hall of Xin’an Medical Thought School, the Sample Center of Chinese Herbs, the Garden of Medical Herbs, the TCM Clinic with famous Chinese physicians, and the Storing Room of Ancient Chinese Medical Books are visited by overseas guests more than 1,000 times per year.
Set up in 1959, the University has inherited the two outstanding medical traditions in Anhui Province. One is from the southern part of Anhui which is called Xin’an; The other one is from the northern part which is called Huatuo. Through its development for nearly a half century since its founding, the University has grown into a mature higher education institution which offers undergraduate education and graduate education Adult and international student education is also available. At present it has created millions of advanced medical talents, who have spread over all the China and the world, who function as the cornerstone in the everyday practice, management and academic study in their respective fields. With the coming of worldwide trends to studying Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy and Acupuncture and Moxibustion, the University is exploring the cultivation of international students’ talents, international academic exchanges and cooperation in science & technology.
Since 1996, the University has been authorized to enroll international students, and students from the districts of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It possesses a faculty experienced at educating international students. Because of its experienced faculty, excellent study conditions and high standard of living, more and more young potential talents are attracted to study at the University. The University has become an important base for the international exchanges and education in Anhui. Many students from the U.S.A, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam and Taiwan District have chosen to pursue their Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, or clinical internships at Anhui University of TCM.
In 2005, the University has successfully passed the evaluation of undergraduate education from the Ministry of Education, the P.R.C and received an excellent remark.

Admission Requirements
Undergraduate:
A. Qualification: At least senior high school graduate (fulfilling the minimum high school graduation requirement) or equivalent education.
B. Applying Documents: Transcripts of the most advanced studies; Diploma of the most advanced studies; Passport; Application Form.
Postgraduate:
A. Qualification: At least successful completion of a bachelor’s degree program (Medicine) or equivalent education.
B. Applying Documents: Transcripts of the most advanced studies; Diploma of the most advanced studies; Two letters of recommendation (from professors or associate professors); Passport; Application Form.
Ordinary Advanced Study:
A. Qualification: At least successful completion of a bachelor’s degree program (Medicine or not) or equivalent education.
B. Applying Documents: Transcripts of the most advanced studies; Diploma of the most advanced studies; The certificate of medical working experiences; Statement of Purpose; Passport; Application Form
Senior Advanced Study:
A. Qualification: At least successful completion of a master’s degree program (Medicine or not) or equivalent education.
B. Applying Documents: Transcripts of the most advanced studies; Diploma of the most advanced studies; The certificate of medical working experiences; Statement of Purpose ; Passport; Application Form
Clinical Practice:
A. Qualification: Any one who possesses an inclination to Traditional Chinese Medicine (At least apply for two weeks’ clinical internship and observation).
B. Applying Documents: Passport; Application Form.
Note: If an applicant chooses Chinese as the teaching media, he or she should attend Chinese proficiency test-HSK Test for the international students. The undergraduates should pass HSK Test (Band 6), and the postgraduates, HSK Test (Band 8); the applicants who have not passed the Test can be enrolled as the language students at first. After the language study, if they have passed it, they can be registered as regular students and the school report will be taken into account.
Length of Study and Awarding of Degrees

Undergraduate Students
|
The schooling system is usually 4-5 years. After the completion of the prescribed courses, a diploma and a Bachelor’s degree are awarded.

Postgraduate Students
|
The duration of schooling is 2-3 years. After the completion of the prescribed courses and dissertation defense, a diploma and a Master’s degree are awarded.

Students for Ordinary Advanced Study
|
The study duration is a year or two. After the completion of the study, a certificate of ordinary advanced studies is awarded.

|
Students for Senior Advanced Study
|
The study duration is a year or two. After the completion of the study, a certificate of senior advanced studies is awarded.

|
Students for Clinical Practice
|
The duration of practice must be at least two weeks. After the completion of the practice, a certificate is awarded.

Application Procedures
Applicants or candidates sent by an organization or unit who would like to study at this University can contact the Foreign Affairs Office directly, either writing or coming. Formalities are as follows:
1. To fill in the Application Form for Admission;
2. To submit the related final graduation certificate of education and academic record; it is also necessary for different types of students to submit related materials according to the above mentioned Qualifications for Admission;
3. Once admitted, the applicants will receive the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Foreigners to Study in China (JW202). The successful applicants should take them to the Chinese Embassy or the Consulate at the applicant’s home country to go through all necessary formalities for visa to China, and get to Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine according to the registration date given in the Admission Notice.
Accommodation
1. Overseas students can stay in the ShengYuan Hotel (foreign students’ accommodation center on campus): equipped with air-conditioner, color TV, telephone and bathroom, and also provides Internet access, room-cleaning service and 24-hours hot water supply. Accommodation fees are shown in the following table:

2．Overseas students can also rent their own apartments. According to the current price, an apartment (60 square meters, double bedrooms and one guestroom) with kitchen, washing room, living necessities such as air-conditioner, color TV, telephone service and so on) would cost 1000RMB monthly in downtown area and about 300~700RMB in the suburb. As the University is in the center of Hefei city which is a middle-sized city, even if living in the suburb, it would not take 30 minutes to the campus by bicycle.
Medical Insurance
Overseas students whose study time exceeds 6 months should purchase a medical insurance in China before their registration in our University.
