Hainan University, officially established in August 2007 with the approval of the Ministry of Education, is a national key comprehensive university. It is the merger of the former South China University of Tropical Agriculture (SCUTA), and the former Hainan University (HU). As one of the national “211 Project” universities, it is jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and the Hainan Provincial Government.
The university runs three campuses, namely Haidian, Chengxi, and Danzhou. Its main campus is located on Haidian Island of Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Province. Haidian Campus, nestled along the coast of the South China Sea and dotted by lakes, along with its fragrant tropical flora and long coconut leaves fluttering in refreshing sea breezes, is at once a beautiful tropical sight and an ideal place for learning.
