School of Software Engineering of NCU (SSNCU), founded in 2002, is the first batch of software colleges approved by Jiangxi province. It is located at the Qingshan Lake Campus (North Campus) of Nanchang University, which has more than 60 years of history with beautiful environment, strong academic atmosphere and good study infrastructure.
Within only 7 years, SSNCU has developed into a middle scale undergraduate professional institute with more than 3,000 students. Recently, SSNCU has 3 undergraduate majors which include Software Engineering, Computer Software and Information Security, 5 Junior College majors which are Software Technology, Computer Network Technology, Network System Management, Animation Design & Production and Computerized Accounting and 1 Profession Master’s Degree Program in Software Engineering. The school was well-equipped with more than 1700 computers and 22 various laboratories co-established with SUN, Microsoft, ZTE, Kingsoft and other well-known IT companies and state information security departments. The teaching team of SSNCU is composed of "three parts", in specific, 1/3 of the teachers are from NCU and other outstanding universities in China, 1/3 are from domestic and foreign renowned IT companies and 1/3 are from foreign universities. With more than 20 professors and 10 doctor’s degree holders, SSNCU has a high-level teaching stuff.
SSNCU aims at cultivating high-level software talents who have good characters and morality, solid basic knowledge of computers and software engineering, good organization and communication skills, and who are able to adapt to the domestic and international environment. SSNCU uses the methodologies of theoretical teaching, skill training, and engineering practice, bilingual teaching to cultivate software talents with both solid knowledge and practical skill, which enable the students to master useful software engineering technology and leading skills at the same time.
SSNCU actively cooperate with the school of software in the well-known universities and large-scale software companies both at home and abroad in various ways such as selecting and appointing teachers and students to go abroad for further study, introducing advanced science and technology, running modes, management patterns and teaching methods from abroad, and hiring renowned foreign teachers to teach in SSNCU. Until now, SSNCU has successively cooperated with foreign universities and companies in USA, Ireland, Canada, India, England, Australia and Taiwan district.
