School of Economics and Management (SEM), a comprehensive school integrating subjects of economics, international trade, management and tourism, was found in 1993.

SEM consists of five departments and four research centers,which are Department of Economics, Department of Business Administration, Department of of International Economics and Trade, Department of of Accounting and of Tourism Management, and Department of Sino-French Business Administration Institute of Nanchang University (NCU), MBA Education Center of NCU, Tourism Planning and Research Center of NCU and the key Humanities and Social Science Research Base under the Ministry of Education------ Research Center of Economic Development in Central Part China.

With a complete range of programs and distinctive characteristics, SEM owns 10 undergraduate programs (Economics, Business Administration, Tourism Management, International Economics and Trade, Finance, Accounting, Financial Management, Marketing, Logistic Management and Industrial Engineering) , ACCA Specialization, 11 full-time postgraduate programs (Industrial Economics, Quantitative Economics, Political Economics, Human Geography, World Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Techno-Economics and Management, Tourism Management, Population, Resources and Environmental Economics), 1doctorate program of first-class discipline (Management Science and Engineering), 1 doctorate program of second-class discipline (Regional and Industrial Economy and Management) and 1 engineering postgraduate program which recruits students in 3 fields (Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, Project Management). Among them, 2 postgraduate programs of Industrial Economics and Quantitative Economics are Provincial-level Key Disciplines and 3 undergraduate majors of Economics, Business Administration, Tourism Management, are Excellent Leading Majors at Provincial Level.

SEM has a faculty team of 131, of whom 24 are professors, 52 associate professors, 22 PhD holders, 16 doctorate candidates, 2 are receivers of special allowance from the State Council and 2 from the Provincial Government, 10 academic leaders of universities in Jiangxi Province, and 6 outstanding university teachers of Jiangxi Province. Besides, more than 40 of them are well-known scholars, experts, professors, leaders from government and famous enterprises also have been employed as guest professors or part-time teachers.

At present, the amount of on-campus students of SEM reaches 4,892, of which 4,530 are undergraduates, 362 postgraduates, over 200 on-job postgraduates and more than 800 adult students of various continue-education programs. Since its establishment, SEM has cultivated more than 20,000 graduates.
