The School has the state key disciplines and the State 211 Project key disciplines and was among the first group to have Post Doctoral mobile stations. The faculty includes 14 professors among whom 4 are academicians and 11 are PH.D supervisors. It offers "Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering" Bachelor's degree program, and boasts of first class computer simulation and network environments. The comprehensive exploitation and research of hydropower is of vital importance to the national economy, for having a bearing on policy, economy, zoology, environment and other fields. The discipline of hydropower energy and computer digital simulation is the national main constructive discipline of 211 Project. There are four academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and nine doctoral degree tutors. The school has hydropower energy simulation center and digital urban engineering center.
The School offers the disciplines on water conservancy and hydropower engineering, hydrology and water resources, system analysis and integration that lead to a doctoral degree in engineering and a master's degree in engineering, which have trained a great group of high-ranking technicians and management specialists for hydropower, power and other concerned fields. The specialty is ranked among the first-level group on the programming, design, control, operation and management of hydropower energy and district economic system throughout the country.
The students principally study the major courses concerned with hydropower energy and the knowledge about information science, control science, management science and humanities.
