Founded in 1939, Sichuan Conservatory of Music has developed into an interdisciplinary higher education institution with comprehensive art subjects, excellent teaching staff, well-equipped teaching facilities and distinguished teaching achievements.
SCCM is authorized by the State Council to confer Master’s Degree to all the music and fine arts majors. Subjects as composition, theory of composition and keyboard instruments are the provincial key subjects; and courses as composition, piano, voice and stringed art are provincial key courses. The national key research projects as “research on the musical instruments of minority groups in southwest of China” and “research on the southwest Silk Road” have yielded great achievements. “Comparison research on north and south silk road music culture” and “comprehensive development and utilization of Sichuan Beichuan Qiang and Pingwu white horse Tibetan folk art” are being implemented.
