Day 01Arrival in Lijiang
Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Lijiang Airport and transfer you to the hotel. Visit the Square Street of the Lijiang Old Town. As you walk through the old town, you will immediately get overwhelmed by small bridges, swift streams, cobbled streets and grey tiled roofs of the Residential Houses. It is an ancient legacy of Naxi people. Naxi women in all types of clothing and hair-dressing appeal to visitors enormously.(L)
Descriptions: Residential Houses - The residential houses in Lijiang are commonly two-storey houses made of timber and earth. The layout of these houses is very much like that of the courtyard houses in Beijing. Generally, the layout follows the pattern of 'three rooms with one screen wall'. In addition, the houses are rich in ornamentation, mainly on the exterior corridor, the screen wall, windows, and the dooryard.
Naxi Ancient Music - Coming to visit the old town of Lijiang, do not forget to hear the traditional Naxi classical music, the Naxi Ancient Music. Regarded as a 'living fossil of Chinese music,' Naxi Ancient Music is played on traditional Chinese musical instruments such as flute, shawm, Chinese lute, plectrum, and zither. Listen carefully, you will find that the Music can purify your heart and free your mind.
Day 02Lijiang
Visit the Baishui Tableland, the Dry Sea, take the cable car to Spruce Plateau and overlook the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and visit the Baisha Village and a local Naxi family, the Baisha Murals, the Rock Joseph's Former Residence in Yuhu Village.(B+L)
Descriptions: Dry Sea - Being on the unique scenic site of Lijiang, the Dry Sea lies at the east foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It had been a highland glacial lake before the 1940s. Gradually, the water dried up and it turned into a vast meadow. Having an elevation of 3,100 meters (10,171 feet), it is only 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) away from Lijiang Old Town. Dry Sea is considered as the best position to get a panorama of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the largest snow mountain in the northern hemisphere. Occupying an area of 960 square kilometers (370.6 square miles), the mountain stretches 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) from north to south and is 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) wide from east to west. At an altitude of more than 4,000 meters, the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain has now become a fantastic resort for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing and exploration.
Day 03Lijiang
Visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, and the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum.(B+L)
Descriptions:
First Bend on the Yangtze River - The three tributaries of the Yangtze River, the Golden Sand River, the Lantsang River and the Nu River, surge forward from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and join together in the northwest Yunnan Province. The Golden Sand River runs ahead to the Hengduan Mountain Range. When meeting a cliff in the Stone Drum Town, it suddenly turns to the northeast, forming a large V-shape bend. Thus it was named First Bend on the Yangtze River.
Stone Drum Town - The Stone Drum Town stands on a small hill beside the First Bend on the Yangtze River. In the town, there is a drum-shaped white marble stele, which is 15 meters (16.4 yards) long and 0.7 meters (2.3 feet) thick. It is at present one of the earliest stone steles that have been excavated in Lijiang. Leaning against the mountain, the Stone Drum Town used to be a strategic point during the past dynasties.
